I didn't know you could do that unless he didn't sign and a school from Ohio stole him.

None of these guys of signed a letter of intent yet. A verbal commit doesn't really tie you to the team. The early period for D1 basketball is from Nov 10-Nov 17. The regular period is from April 13 - May 18.
A verbal commitment is nonbinding. A recruit can get out at any time and other coaches can continue recruiting them even if they have given a verbal commitment to another school. In contrast signing an LOI binds the student to the team for a year and other coaches are forbidden from contacting them.

Glad he posted, had forgotten about his site. Doesn't look like this group is as high as the past two, but I've got no problems with Kaz and Kari comps for the two true freshmen.

I didn't know he was ever here. I don't think he ever played, and don't know anything about him.
Ditto.. he was purged from the roster. He must have had off the court issues?

Have to admit, my first reaction was "who?"

I wanted something similar to what I’ve experienced at centerville and I just did not think Drexel was the best fit for me. Thus deciding for me to decommit."

We all know it is because we was his best option until bigger schools finally came around to him and he changed his mind.

RE: Recruiting Thread
seems like he would have been a nice addition...but another out of state kid.
any thoughts about why it seems like we have to bring kids in from all over the country/world? it stood out to me that delaware's roster is mostly pa and md kids. davis is from right there in newark.

Even Bruiser had a tough time recruiting local kids, despite being local and having the connections. The players who want to stay local have so many choices of like minded mid-majors (Penn, SJU, LaSalle, and even throw Delaware into the mix). Spiker also isn't local and doesn't have the local connections that Ingelsby has, and that was clearly one of the criticisms of Drexel's choice to hire Spiker over Ingelsby. Drexel's staff has to work that much harder to recruit from around the world to get players who might not be familiar with the hierarchy of Philadelphia's college sports teams.

RE: Recruiting Thread
Why does local players matter? Asking because I have never understood. I understand there is a whole world of Philly high school basketball, but beyond that, does anyone really care where a player comes from? Do we really think we would be drawing in more fans just because we have a kid from somewhere in PA?

I guess it doesn't really matter if you have the resources to draw in top quality players from all over the country, or even the world. But when you have top quality mid-major players at your doorstep and could convince family and friends that they can easily attend all of the kids home games then why not do your best to get them on your team?
Attendance does help quite a bit when your players are local. Drexel's women's team draws in significantly more family and friends of the players than the men's team does. As somebody who attends a lot of games at the DAC for both teams, I will say that it's definitely noticeable. Now who the opponent is factors into this, but I've been to a lot of doubleheaders over the years when I would noticeably see more fans at the women's game than the men's game.

RE: Recruiting Thread
Im sure its true of Philly players, but I would be surprised if that is true from elsewhere in the state. Realistically, does anyone think we are going to land those local Philly players? Brusier was a Philly staple and really struggled. If he couldn't do it, not sure why anyone thinks its an option. That doesnt mean you ignore those players. You still visit, invite and offer, but they shouldn't be the expectation of landing. Unless we start a winning culture sometime, I have a hard time believing we should start to expect to land the Philly talent. Using resources to essentially waste our time, doesnt seem productive to the program, to me.
