Want to see some history being made? Watch Miami-Ball State tonight
In 2010, the Miami Redhawks became the first team in college football history to go from double-digit losses to double-digit wins the next season. Tonight with a win against Ball State, we would become the first ever to win six straight games (and almost certainly go to bowling) after starting 0-6. As of now we're only the third to win five in a row under those circumstances, though 1971 Illinois and 1988 Tennessee only played eleven-game seasons. Game will be aired on ESPN3 at 7.

This may have NY6 bowl implications as well. If Miami wins and Ohio loses to Akron (also played tonight), we win the MAC East to play in the championship game, presumably against Western Michigan if they beat Toledo to win the West. Unfortunately we decided to crap the bed at the beginning of the season, so WMU having 6-6 Miami as an opponent instead of Ohio (currently at 7-4 with OOC wins against powerhouses like Kansas and Gardner-Webb) could hurt them a smidge in the eyes of the committee.

Even more interesting? Consider this:

Wyoming wins on Saturday.
Temple beats ECU (as expected)
WMU wins/

In the championships, Temple wins the AAC, Ohio or Miami wins the MAC, and Wyoming wins the Mountain West. Who gets the access bowl slot then? Temple? Troy? Ohio?

Troy has to win out and Arkansas State has to lose one for Troy to pop back up in that case.

Temple. Think TV numbers, not computer rankings. Remember, the committee takes subjective data in to consideration.

Arkansas State did something similar last year. I think they are more of a case of 'coach cant figure it out in the offseason'..

Absolutely. We juggled QB's through spring, settled on our guy then brought in a grad transfer and repeated the process in the fall while at the same time new offensive line coach turned four all-conference veterans into a group that couldn't open up holes against an in-state FCS to even gain 100 on the ground.

Miami lost to an FCS that finished 6-5 and four back in the OVC, while AState lost to an in-state FCS that finished 9-2 and a game back in the Southland.

The Red Hawks truly hit bottom and had to claw back with zero room for error at 0-6 and 0-2 in the MAC. The Red Wolves were 0-4 and 0-0 in the Sun Belt when they started their charge and room to screw up.

Miami makes it happen. But Ohio comes through over Akron, so Miami doesn't win the division.

Still an amazing run.

Congrats to Miami.

I thought Miami made a great hire in Chuck Martin. Nice to see that he's succeeding.
