MyBB New Basketball Ticket Flex Plan
Saw this earlier today. Athletic office is offering a new ticket plan, pay for 10 tickets, get 12, and you can use them for any game you choose in the best available seats. They are $450 for plaza/club level and $120 for terrace. I'm a little torn on this. I think it's a great way to get some butts in the seats which I'm all for. On the other hand I'm honestly a little pissed someone can sit in the same or potentially better seats than me while paying 40% of what I'm paying per ticket. Thoughts from other season ticket holders?

I don't think people realize what the last few years did to attendance. As a season ticket holder, I watched the crowds dwindle. Anything to get butts in seats and build excitement again is fine by me

Yea, I'm trying not to sound like sour grapes, I've had season tickets for 7 years and have maybe missed about 4 games during that time. The last two years have been a ghost town. I guess more than anything I'm jealous I didn't take advantage of this, especially after the last two years when I knew I didn't get close to fair value. So everyone tell your friends and get some butts in the seats, it's a great way to basically get season tickets without paying the seat donation.

New Basketball Ticket Flex Plan
I bought 5 of the $99 "901" season tickets. Guaranteed 2 lower level tickets. Guess where my CBU and UTRGV tickets were. Yep, lower level. It's going to blow if the next 17 games are at the top of the Forum. Oh well.

Yea, but for $6 a ticket that's a steal even if you're in the rafters. I imagine it won't be hard to move down to the front rows for most the games

As far as I can remember, this is the first time you can get partial (more than a few games) prime season tickets in lower level WITHOUT a donation since the early 70s. I'm pretty sure the golden circle in Coliseum started requiring a donation in 1971 or '72.

Well I used to get season tix up until the 2012/2013 season in section 107. I paid $1,400 for donation then the Tix were $700. Good grief that's a great deal though!

I understand where you're coming from, it's a good amount of cash to put up over the years. Were you at some of those games during the holidays in the forum last year and the year before? The attendance was brutal.

RE: New Basketball Ticket Flex Plan
Back in the day (before the FedEx Forum), they would let people move down from the middle/nosebleed section to the lower levels to fill in the empty spots. Obviously you wouldn't be able to do that for all games, but they really should be more flexible with that since all it does is make the program look like crap when the lower bowl isn't filled. Just my 2 cents.

You can do that with the app that allows you to pay a reduced seat fee in-game

Yeah.

People say (hyperbole, of course) that Cal "nuked" the program.

Well, the fall after Cal left, the "program" had 18k+ for a Midnight Madness (had to literally turn away people) and were 8th in the NCAA in attendance that year--UP from 10th the year before under Cal.

Now, after Pastner--there is no Madness, the home opener (with the sale of $5 tickets) barely surpassed 5,000 people in actual attendance.

That is nuking a program.

It's catch 22 for sure

I just wonder how much TSF donations have dropped the last several years

Donators
Post: #13
RE: New Basketball Ticket Flex Plan
I am OK with any deal they can offer to fill the arena. I paid for my seats plus donation, and I don't mind if people get a better deal to entice them to fill the empty seats.

Those who gripe should just give up their seats and wait to see if they can get a cheap deal next year. Of course if our teams under Tubby turn out to be pretty good, then they could be on the outside looking in.

It reminds me of the parable Jesus told about the workers in the vineyard. Those who came early, those who came at midday, and those who came at the last hour all got the same pay. People griped, but the vineyard owner said "You agreed to work for that pay". It's not an exact parallel, but you were happy with your donation and ticket cost until somebody else got a better deal, so it's similar.

I was there, it was downright embarrassing for a number of games. I'd say there were a couple with less than 3000 people. Anyone know the numbers for season ticket sales this year? Obviously they aren't where they want to be since they are having all these ticket promotions.

I get it, I wasn't sure how to feel yesterday when I saw the announcement but I'm over it now. I guess I could have saved a lot of money if I could have seen into the future, but lets be honest, the university needs that basketball donation money to fund the athletic department. I just hope this puts some butts in the seats. It's a good deal folks, spread the word and buy some tickets. Xmas is coming up.....

I got a couple of those. For the first 3 games, I've been in the rafters. I'm hoping they hold out for my 2 lower seats until the "good" games roll around.

I haven't tried to move down, though. Not sure if they're doing that this year or not - other than the in-game app.

I posted that this would happen. Hate that I'm right for once.

When you are right about something horrible coming to pass, the only person who cares you were right is you. I otter know.

It's just a lose lose situation for all concerned.
