RE: Forbes Contract
Sander dangling the carrot of exciting news coming is really intriguing. A second video board at Freedom Hall? Hardly enough to merit a mention. Maybe a big scheduling announcement? That's very possible. Maybe Wichita State home and home or another SEC or ACC team? Changing conference would be shocking. Is it even a possibility or desirable right now? Our home attendance would lead the Sun Belt I believe, not that going there would be desirable. Maybe the CAA if JMU jumps? All pure speculation right now but are there any conferences out there that would be a good fit for all parties?

It's in the "inside the dome" video. I think it was mentioned in the uncg thread too.

Whoa, whoa whoa!! What is this "right way"?!?
Weren't we *already* "winning the right way"! At least that's what we were told year after year. Are you now saying that that wasn't true? That we were misled? How could that have happened? How can we know *this* is the right way and the stanton/mullins/bartow way wasn't????

I'm so confused here. Please clarify.

I would be happy if the exciting news was the installation of chairback seats on the entire football stadium instead of the normal bleachers. I'd be willing to pay a bit extra for that, but can't afford the premium mid field seating. Or even the installation of the video board before the first season starts would be nice.

There's no room in the Sun Belt, but I'd be 100% for that move in all sports. As for the seats, I have a feeling they'll offer something similar to what Tennessee and other schools do with temporary seats that will latch on to the metal bleachers for a fee.

All of the expansion talk is kind of quiet right now. The B12 can be a catalyst for dominoes to fall. Since they are not talking expansion presently, not much is happening above the surface.

If the Big 12 poached from the American or C-USA, then American or C-USA would look to Sun Belt schools. The Sun Belt is presently at a stable 12 and there is little advantage to growing bigger right now. Moves at higher echelons or a true Power 5 secession could open up a position for ETSU in a small FBS league.

For now, ETSU needs to be financially stable, competitive in all sports and to show good football attendance.

It is sometimes hard to see old rivals like Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, and Appalachian moving up in the world and experiencing success, while we are still wiping the dust off and shaking off the cobwebs from the last two decades of idiocy and mismanagement.

We don't necessarily want to run too fast if we're not ready, the school has made a lot of progress but could still easily fall apart if we're not careful. Stay consistent in basketball, get to the point where they can win 6 or 7 games a year in football on a consistent basis, and also tune up womens basketball and baseball for good measure. Then look at a conference upgrade.

As far as Forbes, with a win in Asheville over Mercer, this makes the first time since the 2003-04 season that the team has reached the 25 win mark. Will he get some sort of one time bonus for that?

Forbes bonuses

That doesn't specifically address your question, which I think was brought up many months ago. I don't remember the specifics, but I kinda want to say 'yes'.

I don't want a conference upgrade. I'm happy where we are. If we get good at football, I'd much rather experience a real playoff than playing in a December 20 bowl game.

I suspect most of you all saw this, but just in case.......

“I’m not looking for a job,” he said. “I love it here. That’s not how it works. But I have to be smart about it too. If somebody calls me with something that could be life-changing for me or my family, then I’d have to listen.”

Forbes a "Wanted Man"?

MONEY fuels it all, obviously, with coaches' salaries going through the roof at a number of the money centers. Many mid-major programs seem to always be trying to drink the champagne on a beer drinker's budget. Just wondering the budget difference between the Florida men's basketball program and the ETSU men's basketball program? Incidentally, did ETSU Athletics pick up much extra change by going to Orlando and playing before 15,000 fans and a national TV audience? Anyway, great season. Go Bucs!

I dont think we get anything extra for making the tournament. The conference gets the same amount as always because we didnt win, and that money is supposed to be divided equally among the SoCon members. VMI gets the same as we do.

That was a great article. I am slowing getting over the disappointment of yesterday and am excited about recruiting. Coach's words show he is just like us-he not only wants to go to the tournament, he wants to win there. I cannot wait to see our recruits. Go team Forbes!

Article says if Jurkin comes back Forbes will have 4 scholarships.

Bradford
Burrell
Long
Payne
Williams
Obi-Rapu

Is 6 coming back for sure
Hodges is 7
Jurkin would be 8

Doesn't that leave 5?

Could it be the "pocket" scholarship that coaches sometimes keep for a late transfer?
