I was afraid of that. Ultimately if UH does run the table, a slew of P5 teams losing a game coupled with factoring in 3 seasons (2015-2017) may give em a shot at the Final Four.
That glass ceiling is there for the breaking.

You're thinking too small. What you haven't noticed is that with UH's rise the other American schools are stepping up to the plate. The American has gotten pretty damn strong, and if we have a good bowl season we will be set up even better next year.
Just about any American team with any semi decent non conf. schedule (which we all pretty much have from what I've seen) that goes undefeated will get into the playoffs.
This year is especially messy and I really think if we had an undefeated team, they would be on the verge of the playoffs this week and winning the championship game would put them in.
Now not every year will be this messy, we aren't up in the pecking order, but I am pretty confident that by the time the dust settles any given year, our teams would have controlled their own destiny.
That's a huge contrast to CUSA and MAC. I have faith we will be the first G5 in the playoff and I don't think it takes everything falling your way, it just takes a team that's worthy of making it through the AAC schedule. Houston wasn't that this year.

The wording on the bolded reads as if Houston is the reason other AAC programs are improving. Is that what you meant?

Pappa's - Westheimer @ South Gessner
Goode Co. - I - 10 west @ Cambell Rd.

Speaking for myself, I do believe that Houston's success has influenced other members. Sometimes with mixed results...
I tend to think that ECU fired Ruff and hired a young OC because in some ways they looked at Houston and thought they could replicate that success..
but it backfired and they'll win less this year than last year...
