Lots of first half substitutions, no offensive flow, low scoring close game at the half.

Second half, UC players were fresh and wore out the opponent for a big win.

Yup. We simply out talent teams like this down the stretch.

Really liked Jenifer's D. Scott and Brooks look like they could be decent. Gary needs to be more assertive. Can't have him not scoring until second half. Cumberland looks like a stud. Evans will be the leader of this squad next year. Caupain and Johnson need to realize they are seniors.

Tale of two halves. i'll burn the film on the first half but the second half seemed as much about class and depth as anything else.

+1 on Jennifer's improvement. Played strong D and played within himself on offense. Next step would be to develop a consistent jumper.

+1 on Kyle Washington. i didn't see any horrible jumpers from deep. Played really tough in the post. Obviously still working on staying out of foul trouble but his quality was clearly on display. Hopefully he'll keep his aggressive post play going forward. if he goes next level, that is where his bread will be buttered.

+1 JEIII. Our best scorer.

Caupain/Johnson/Clark didn't impress much. Honestly, i am worried that Clark might be deferring to Washington. They seem like the same player except Washington is bigger. They need to figure how to play together because we'll need them on the floor at the same time for Defense and rebounding.

I agree with a lot of this. I think the criticism of Troy is a little overstated. Mick singled him out for his play in the first half on both halves for keeping us in the game and he couldn't take him out because we'd be down 10. KJ is still coming back from an illness; I'm not really worried about their senior leadership.

Clark I agree on. We've got many more options on offense this year and they need to find ways to keep him engaged. I still believe he's one of our most talented players and want to see him involved on offense.

Not responding to you on this but people need to quit with the Jacob Evans is going to be stuff. He already is special 19 pretty quiet points last night. Remember only two years ago we had no one averaging 10 a game now we've got a guy who can score a quiet 19.

This group has me really excited.

Against Brown they have beautiful passes to each from the high post or top of the key. They can compliment each other very well. I think the issue (not really an issue) is that there are finally options on offense. For everyone to have a good night we'd have to score 130.

My big issue from last night was how easily Albany seemed to score inside. Gary and Kyle could not get a hand on a lot of their shots. They also went for every block which left them out of position to rebound. Maybe they were tentative because of fouls but against inferior competition it seems like that should not happen.

I am really hoping half way through the season I can eat a ton of crow on the Justin Jennifer topic. I did not have high hopes for him, but we started pushing the ball mostly because of him. He even pushed it up off of a couple made baskets and got Cumberland some easy points. Caupain drives me nuts with how slowly he brings it up so I loved seeing Jennifer pushing it.

Pretty much agree with everything in this post on individual players.

Clark is the only one im worried about about meeting expectations on this team . It stands out more because the people coming up behind him are progressing quickly. Which is good but as you said they need to find a way to keep him engaged.

We will be fortunate if Evans is on this team for 4 years.

Very excited from the early returns from Washington and Cumberland.

We will learn ALOT about this team this weekend.

Looks like we may be able to roll this conference this year if early games are any indication. Looking at you, Uconn and Temple

+1 in re: Bold - The defense forced TOs which is good but in terms of the half court D, it was very discouraging to see Albany get to the rim so easily (similarly, our struggles to get to the rim was equally disappointing). i completely agree that the Bigs sold out for swats and sacrificed position and rebounding. Honestly, i feel that sometimes when the Bearcats know that they are athletically superior, they go for blocks instead of playing fundamentally sound. i feel this is especially true when we get SC caliber block like Evans had. Need to play smart on both ends of the court.

Also, i forgot to mention Cumberland: Homeboy is not shy. i like that he's looking for his shot early and that he's not taking bad shots (in the small sample i've witnessed). The more he's able to realize his potential, the better this team will be. He reminds me of JEIII in that specific regard.

in re Clark/Washington: i didn't see the Brown game and don't know how Brown compares to Albany. in all honestly, it should make little to know difference as the Bearcats should have beat both handily. i guess my qualm is that teams will clog the lane, crowd our bigs and dare us to beat them from deep. if Clark/Washington chemistry is a non-issue, then so be it, but i haven't seen anything (again, small sample size) to indicate that this is working. i am hoping that i am wrong since, like i mentioned, we will need both to make a run.

Think I'm going to wait on the accolades until after this weekend when they go up against real D-I talent.

With respects to Clark, we have seen from him for the past few years that he will have a solid outing and then follow up with a performance where he barely registers on the stat sheet. Through two games that is what we have here. For now I will chalk it up to Gary being Gary as opposed to him deferring to KW or anyone else.

Albany is a top 100-150 team, Brown is a top 200-250 team.
