I'll take it by your lack of ability to form a counter-argument that you know I'm right.
You'll never convince me. I'll never convince you. There is no such thing as convincing an adult.
Have to get em young, and instill the correct way of thinking early.
You're 1/3 right. I'll never convince you. You've closed your mind off to conflicting information.
I, on the other hand, have changed my mind about scores of things from drug prohibition to religion to capital punishment. Most of my opinion shifts happen after reading something compelling that I can't form a better counterargument to. Some books/publications in particular that have been influential:
- Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
- The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins
- Economics In One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt
- The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul
- End The Fed by Ron Paul
- Reason Magazine
- CATO Institute
Your "get 'em young" comment is disturbing and tantamount to child abuse. I'm not saying it's illegal. But it is highly unethical and damaging to long term mental health of the child. You are no better than a member of a cult or religion using childhood indoctrination to perpetuate your ideas which failed to gain traction in the larger marketplace of ideas.

So you understand banning a tool from law abiding folk is just silly then?

Oil filter. You need baffles to stop sound. An oil filter is a can full of baffles.

They shouldn't be illegal to begin with. They contribute absolutely zero lethality to a firearm, much like the left's famous boogeyman the barrel shroud. If anything they make guns less lethal because of the reduction of bullet performance and the effect that adding extra weight out on the end of the barrel.
Doesn't a silencer make firing a weapon easier to conceal?
There is no such thing as a silencer except in the movies. Suppressors do lower the volume of the report..but..nothing like in the movies...and no..a handgun with a suppressor would be harder to conceal due to adding length to the weapon.
I don't mean conceal as in hiding the gun. I mean conceal that fact that it was fired.
I'm thinking, if you wanted to murder someone and didn't want to draw attention to yourself, would a silencer make that easier?
It doesn't silence the gun completely. Your just muffling the sound down to a more tolerable level. It would be similar as to if you were firing a un-suppressed gun but while wearing earplugs. You still hear a sound, but it doesnt hurt your ears.
Suppressors are already legal in 42 states in the US, they are just a bit pricy. Plus you have to do all the ATF paper work and pay the stamp. I think Trump just wants to streamline the process a bit. I'm sure there has been murders with suppressed guns before, but it is rare. Otherwise you'd hear about it often.

GTS,
Nice try. I was talking about getting kids to question everything they hear, and emphasize researching, before they form those first bedrock opinions that become impossible to alter.
Silencers & Supressors are 2 words for the same thing. A true silencer that complete removes the sound doesnt exist.
I cant click on the link (blocked at my work) so Im not sure why he is talking about legalizing silencers, when you can already buy them in most states.

Yeah, just the bottle by itself wont do much but their are many ways to use bottles and come up with a suppressor.

If you aren't willing to try then you will be absolutely correct. People change their minds all based upon new info. I don't know your specific position, but my comment to John is that for the control proponents there aren't any half measures that will satisfy their desire. Stop faking the funk and just come out and say you don't believe civilians should own guns. That's all I'm advocating.

I agree! I'm a huge fan of Hickok 45! He does a great job and his range is fantastic!
I'm really amazed that people are so ignorant about firearms still. This is example one of the pussification of America.

Yep. That's your "state's rights" Republicans for ya.
