5-4 final. Providence scored twice in the 70th minute (36 seconds apart), and all four second half goals were tallied in a 12 minute span.

RE: 2016 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Thread
Elite Eight matchups
Providence vs #9 North Carolina
#5 Stanford vs #4 Louisville
#6 Denver vs #3 Clemson
Virginia Tech vs #2 Wake Forest
Five of the eight participants are from the ACC.
One other note: This is Denver's first NCAA quarterfinal appearance since 1970. With a win over Clemson, they would advance to their first College Cup (Final Four) appearance in program history as well as pick up their 20th win of the season.

Do the ACC schools get a lot of international players? Or even a lot of out-of-state players?
Be curious to know boys soccer participation levels by state, for high school aged (club and/or school teams).

Of course the stellar competition the Slummit provided had everything to do with Denver's Final Four appearance.
A Frozen Four, a men's lax championship, and a men's Final Four appearance. Rather impressive.
Should be at the top of a WCC or Big WeSt invite list now, if they weren't before.

UND will have two fantastic Summit League members that also play NCHC hockey, in Denver and Omaha.
It will be a treat for your fans! Though not sure how many UND hockey fans give a rip about other sports at UND.

Denver was in the RPI top-10 so they would have earned a national seed even with a loss in their conference tourney. By contrast, UNO at 55 was the only league opponent in the top-100. Denver carried the banner the entire way.

Aside topic -
Seems neither UNC nor Wake (especially Wake) have rosters dominated by players from North Carolina.
Just wonder then, why they invest so heavily in the sport? Some rich alum who really loved soccer pumps money into the programs?? Wonder what their attendance is like.

Well UND and Denver do have one thing in common, they have zero NCAA men's basketball tournament appearances between them. ZERO. With that said, Denver is not a one trick pony like UND and has one of the finest Athletic Departments in the nation. However, that big goose egg in basketball will keep them out of the WCC for years to come. Until they figure that out, they are stuck in the Summit for the foreseeable future.

And obviously they have no desire for the Big West. Nor do the Calif schools in the Big West have desire to fly all teams to Denver.
Summit is a great place for them, especially with hockey rivals Omaha and North Dakota in the conf.

RE: 2016 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Thread
The Big West's opportunity to get Denver was a few years ago. In 2012 or so, it supposedly asked them to both add travel subsidies and at least two sports. Their AD was not pleased at all. Denver would have likely been okay with just the subs but not the sports (baseball and softball). After all the realignment drama they fell off the radar.
Denver in the Big West is an okay fit. Their Olympic sports would make the conference stronger, especially volleyball and men's soccer. Academics fit. Geography not so much but at least it's in a major western city.
