The 1530 guys (Mo and Lance) weigh in on UC football
Mo Egger....

Let's go back to last Tuesday, and Tommy Tuberville's press conference...

“Our program is much better right now than it was when I got here. Now, it ain’t showing on the scoreboard."

The 2012 UC Bearcats, playing in their final Big East season, went 10-3, sharing a conference championship. Their three losses were by a combined 16 points. They won a bowl game over Duke, a neutral site game against Virginia Tech, and they were undefeated at home. They had eight players on All-Big East teams. At various points during the season, they were ranked in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll.

The 2016 UC Bearcats have now played ten consecutive quarters without scoring a touchdown. Today, they followed up their punchless performance against BYU with something even more feeble against Central Florida.

The Lance McAlister post has some pretty sobering stats in it.....

The reality
UC football finished seasons national ranked in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011.
UC football has not been ranked for a single week in the Top 25 since Tuberville's arrival.

What else could Tubs say? We're terribly disappointed with our season and I've failed miserably in leading this program. He's trying to put lipstick on the pig and nobody is buying it anymore.

I think most of us felt the beat down at USF and the subsequent bowl embarrassment in Hawaii signaled the beginning of the end. We all hoped those were aberrations. Sadly, not.

it's as much about what he shouldn't be saying then what he saying, such as the following: "'“Our program is much better right now than it was when I got here.'" He stated this at the very least twice and each time it's made me absolutely crazy. Show some humility, empathy and stop trying to spin this miserable experience. The fans and the players cannot be the only stakeholders that have ownership and investment in the program.

Yep. The way last season played out, it was painfully obvious this was a fast sinking ship. They did an absolutely horrendous job last year with a very very good roster (at least relative to the teams on their schedule).

And one more - Paul Daugherty -

AS FOR UC. . . There really is no defending the coaching staff, on any level. Coaches set tones. Coaches put players in positions to succeed. Coaches devise game plans, then adjust them when things aren’t going well. Do you see any of that happening in Clifton?

Here’s what has happened in the 2nd-halves of games this year, not counting the opener v. TN-Martin:

Outscored Purdue, 17-13
Outscored by Houston, 30-6
Outscored Miami, 17-10
Outscored by South Florida, 21-0
Outscored by UConn, 13-0
Outscored ECU, 17-16
Outscored by Temple, 17-0
Outscored by BYU, 10-0
Outscored by Central Florida, 14-0

Add it up, it’s 144-57, other guys.

Take away the ECU win, in its last six games UC has been outscored 75-0 in the second half.

Let me repeat that: 75-0.

Non-competitive. Not a factor. Out of the game.

That’s coaching, to a big extent.

And now this gem from Tommy T himself -

"Each quarterback is a little different; athletic ability, speed, throwing the football. You have to have a little different plan with each one. It's hurt our offense because we haven't had any continuity."

When he named Moore the starter I said that this would eventually be the excuse he used.

My blood pressure goes up more during the week hearing his comments than it does actually watching the game.

If Tubs wants to save his job he needs to"

1. Enumerate his mistakes. Confession is good for the soul. Be very honest and comprehensive - the list would be long.

2. Define clear solutions for the mistakes. Perhaps that means firing himself.

3. Acknowledge that today he has failed - not say the program is better now.

He needs to become real and not a pure BS characature of a leader who insults our intelligence. Unless he can admit to his failures - he must go - as he is so delusional.

The dude is a problem for so many reasons. There is no paradigm(snicker) that allows us to pay a guy 2.2 million for doing nothing and scrimping on assistants. He is overqualified for our job and needs to get back to the p5. You have to work at this level.

It really isn't to me. On one hand you have a coach that, despite knowing his departure is imminent, still respects his fanbase enough to realistically address his failures. On the other hand you have an egomaniac that has zero respect for our fanbase. He thinks we're stupid and repeated comments like this just prove it.

The problem is this...
EITHER the situation is "irredeemable" (this is what it SHOULD BE)...
OR Tubs doesn't have to do anything to "save" his job (this is what I'm afraid it really is).

There really isn't much of a middle ground, IMO. We're not talking about "one bad season" among otherwise stellar results. We're talking about a decreasing amount of wins each year culminating in a spiral this season.

Yes - that is the story. It is not a bad season - it is a bad record.
