This conference championship should have a damned asterisk next to it.

You do realize that at least 2 "fictitious" NC came by poor ref calls over the years.

Two years ago OSU won the "fictitious" NC by "defeating PSU when the refs missed two crucial calls. The first as time expired on a 49 yard FG attempt by 3+ seconds. The second came on a clearly bad call on an interception that never happened. The OSU defender was bobbling it the entire time and never had possession of the ball as he hit the ground and the ball came out. The claim was that the replay booth never got the field to review the play, even though millions watched the replay at home.

The second "fictitious" NC came when Colorado got the famous FIVE downs to allows them to continue the winning drive.

It happens. The moral of the story is to win convincingly to remove any doubt in the outcome.

EDIT: Just read another recap story on the Colorado game and found that a fan in the stands DID DIE of a heart attack during the post game mayhem. Hard to know whether the game itself contributed to the fan's HA but we need to remember not to take these things so seriously.
