We are this close (I'm holding my index finger and thumb together) to being 8-2 right now. With what we've got coming back and coming in next year, 2017 has the potential to be a really special season.

We won't be special until we can beat teams that have a .500 record or better.
With the exception of Temple we have beaten a pack of bums. All the decent teams we have played have manhandled us, none of the games were even close. Even last night it was obvious USF could match us score for score and that game was not in doubt. Until we have personnel that can stop someone on occasion (I am not asking for world class defense just one that is good enough to stop a team now and then) we will be middle of the pack..... feast on the bottom feeders and lose to the competent.

I have to agree on this one. we had one helluva time tackling their qb.
We had one helluva hard time stopping their option period.

NOTHING about this defense suggests to me that we will be anything but average at best.

Thinking only of seniors, we lose a lot of DBs and several DL. It seems if we had better behind them, they would've been playing this year. Harbinger of problems. Offense pretty much intact. As OL continues to mature and improve, could be one of, if not the, best all time (for us).

It's this kind of positivity that keeps me coming back here. Thanks for the inspiration.

By the way, our defense has been plagued by injuries, beginning pre-season, and including potential all-conference candidates in Dillon, White, and Nelson. I'd like to know any AAC team that could've overcome that.

Sorry but they had at least 21 of their points assisted by the officials.

Two clear fumbles that they blew dead when they were not. One of them the player was falling FORWARD put his hand down and his HAND hit the ground knocking ball loose. NO way progress was stopped. At least one of their TD runs the OL has both hands wrapped around the arm of the defender keep him from making play.

Did we play well on defense? NO not by any means. Did we make enough plays to win the game Yes.

Depends on how many Eric Cartwrights we are able to get before next season. We are hurting on both lines badly and it will limit the team.

Do we have any Dudes coming in who can bust it up the Gut or catch a pass. Do w have any Dudes coming in who can BLITZ and get a sack. If those Dudes come in here we will kick some ass.

My post was not meant to be negative. I just don't see any great players on our defensive side of the ball. Too many not big enough, not fast enough, and too many not disciplined enough.

I have to say that our games are very entertaining. Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. Although in today's college FB, I don't think too many teams play great 'd'. "Bama comes to mind and perhaps Michigan. But hardly any Pac-12 teams OR Big 12 teams Or ACC teams play great 'd'.
