RE: houston vs tulane gamethread
tulane is basically trying different kinds of onside kicks, every kick off

and done like 6 trick plays in the first quarter, gone for it on 4th twice

will be curious if they keep playing with this "nothing to lose" mentality the entire game

I thought the same thing. I actually like the approach.

our oline has been really bad the last few game through injury

mix that with the fact that herman has been trying to make ward a more pocket passer this season

when we had a stronger oline to start the year it looked like a good experiment, with the weaker oline, ward has been getting killed in the pocket by everyone

if you are comparing him to last years tulane game, he would have likely already had 100yds on the ground, with 4 rushing tds...

we are winning but im not to worried

and as im typing ward gets injured

He just seem uncomfortable. Not saying that as a Tulane fan...... But something seems off. I hope he is ok..... But sits out the rest of the game. 04-cheers04-cheers

its been like this for the last 4 games, the oline has been bad after injury of our best 2 o-line, so he has no time in the pocket and is jittery from having little time

we talk about this often in the houston forum, we are trying to make ward a pocket passer but didnt give him an oline good enough to be elitely successful at it

Making ward a pocket QB seems ridiculous. A few hits and he was off his game. He is good at what he does but ward shouldn't stay in the pocket.

I tend to agree with this. I think he takes more hits when he hesitates and stays in the pocket than when he just plays loose and follows his natural instincts (ala Manziel).
