RE: Brown Gamethread
UC looked damn good to me. Loved that Washington was in the post or at the top of the key as a passer.

I totally agree with the announcer that kept saying that Evans is just full of confidence. He looked awesome.

I don;t thin the offense is a bit different but they have much more talent than usual on the offensive side.

This is also a game we did not schedule, it is part of the tournament with Duke and RI.

RE: Brown Gamethread
Can we retire the "Mick can't recruit" stuff yet?

Caupain, Evans, and Clark are already impressive examples of identifying all-league level players that defy our collective "who else was recruiting them" complaints, and now it's Washington may be as impactful as any of them. He played like Ellis with an attitude transplant last night. NC State really gave up on this guy?

I also loved what I saw from Cumberland and Scott. Jarrod has the look of the natural scorer we were promised, and Scott HATES both rims, and your weak layups. The Justin Jackson comparisons are obvious.

If I have one concern about last night, it was Moore. He's clearly improved his game, and could be an effective scoring option, as he showed both at the end of last year and against Bellermine. But having shown that, I think he now wants minutes. His body language on the bench wasn't great, particularly in the second half, when Mick started to empty the bench due to the blowout.

Obviously Brown is not a great basketball team, but that was a great start to the 2016 season. And as UC fans, boy did we need that.

Don't know that blowing out Brown by 30 showed us much of anything. They didn't start a guy over 6'6". We simply imposed our will on them we were bigger, deeper, and more athletic at every position.

Don't know that I saw a whole lot of differences in the offense, other than the fact that the guys taking the shots were actually making them. Which may have been the problem all along. Sometimes it's not the x's and o's, but the john's and the joe's. Having a confident Evans and a guy like Washington who actually has respectful offensive skills in the post (his passing was very good as well), along with a seasoned Gary Clark- could be the thing that finally tips the scales.

I want more data points, tho.

Nice contributions by a lot of the guys. I am much more optimistic than after the Bellermine game. Mick actually talked about offense and scoring points in the post game!

I wish we could go to 7 30 starts. Easier to get to the arena given work day traffic. Tv guys can't make it work.
