In other words, the Electoral College was intended by the Founding Fathers to prevent ordinary citizens -- you and me -- from choosing our president. An intermediate body -- the Electoral College -- was designed to apply its superior “information and discernment” to make the right choice. Thus the Electoral College was not intended to follow the will of the voters.

NO SHAQ SHERLOCK! Because he's not the president of the people, he's the president of the states... Why oh why do you need someone else to tell you what w've been saying here since the election.

Here's another shocker... The US Senate was not set up to represent the will of the American People.

Don't blame me when our govt breaks down because we didn't fix this problem now.

What a whiny crybaby. When your mom calls you to breakfast and all the Frosted Flakes are gone, do you throw yourself on the floor and have a temper tantrum like you are doing now??

After a 4 year civil war we had this happen *twice* in the late 1880's and we are still here.

I'm smart enough to know that a democracy falls apart when people no longer believe the elections are fair. A democracy needs trust in govt to function and the EC is putting us on a crash course to a complete breakdown in our system. Demographic trends are only making 2016 results more and more likely. And the cons are too stupid to see the problems that will come with it.

RE: Ditch the Electoral College? Yes we can
Its funny how the libturds will lecture america weeks before the election about how the EC works when they believe they will get to 270 but not win the popular vote, and then ***** non-stop when the tables are turned. It happened in 2000, and 2016. Both times libturds were out there preaching about how the system works to make sure no republicans were mad that they actually won the legit way. Then they lose the legit way, and its extreme butthurt time.

LOL

And exactly how long do you expect the south and the midwest to tolerate being ruled by a couple counties from California and New York?

After a 4 year civil war we had this happen *twice* in the late 1880's and we are still here.

And one of them was resolved by the biggest political compromise in American history that didn't deal with slavery.

My issue is not that it happened twice, but that demographic shifts mean this is going to happen time and time again in the future.

About the same length California and New York tolerate being ruled by a minority of the country.
