Yes they did. I was redshirted the previous year. BTW, the reaction of The Great Dane McDaniel to being replaced by Reggie still makes me cringe. Classic.

Yes, redshirting was a thing when Reggie played. I thought I knew that but your comments made me look it up .... it seems it started in 1937 at Nebraska. A player asked to be able to practice for a year but not play and not lose a year. It was granted and since he wore nothing but a red shirt in practice, the term redshirt was born.
...yep, reggie played 1 game in 79 and then 80-82..I just wish Carmody had not taken the VEER offense away when he got there...nobody in the Nation could stop our offense the previous 2 years.

this post and the other one by NG are two of the most disturbing posts ive seen. talking about a player dropping passes or fumbling or missing tackles, is one thing. but to insult an 18 year old kid about the way he talks is sickening. that kid seems very humble with a great perspective on things, all while being the biggest recruit we have had in a while. he chose USM over other schools, seems very happy to be here and demonstrates great character in that video. its appalling that someone like NG will trash this nice young man and make fun of his speaking. there are a number of contributing factors that influence a persons speech and most are out of their control. NG is the biggest piece of trash ive seen on this or the old EP board for his comments and should be ashamed of himself. and for the record, i dont think his speech is all that bad. ive heard a lot worse from a lot older / mature NFL players.
So if they are older and in the NFL it makes it acceptable? Got it.
BTW, many kids that grow up in bad situations everywhere learn to speak clear English. It is a want to thing. Nothing else.

...tg, please take note of RF's continuous use, in all of his posts, of the letter I in small case...as well as his many misspellings, total lack of proper punctuation, sentence structure and paragraph structure....and I have no idea why or how anyone would use 2 spaces after finishing a sentence...I mean, just look at that mess he wrote....lawd jesus.
This shows a complete lack of just a basic education. I can only imagine what RF sounds like when he speaks.
