Wow...we are all very fortunate to have the marching band that we do. After witnessing NIU's band last night, I am grateful for the growth and advancement of our marching band over the years. Here's a really nice compliment from one of our rivals' fans (yes, NIU is our rival)...


Toledo Band Kicked A$$
Hate to admit it, but their sound, size (250 if I had to guess vs. 100), spirit, choreographing with cheerleaders was far superior to NIU'S . They actually seemed more P5 than MAC.

Budget, no budget it's pretty bad what NIU put out there vs. them.


I complained about them not making the trip to EMU, but this trade-off was pretty sweet. They represented Toledo on national TV.

Concur, really hate it when the Glass Bowl announcer steps on the 1st Down music refrain with his "TOL"...

He's been doing that for quite some time (more than 1-2 seasons now), you'd think someone in the Athletic Department would point that out and ask him to stop.

They pay attention to this board - maybe this message will hit home!

And if I have a vote, I would choose the band playing during the entire game with no music played over the P.A.

Eh, I like the Tol-... crowd seems to respond to it. Mostly before, only one or two responded to the band. Goes to that stadium experience, not teaching people stuff, since many if not most maybe never went to a game as a UT student.

I'd be fine with the band version if they could-would actually take the time to teach the crowd. They have that big ol video board to get some alums, like Bell or someone to lead the crowd in response.

band sounded great on TV, made it feel a lot more energized than the typical snoozy atmosphere of midweek Maction.

Agree 100%. Dude should leave the cheerleading to the cheerleaders. That and the drawn out descending pitch at the end of words like dowwwwwwn annoy the livin' heck out of me. Maybe I was just born to early to appreciate that, I don't know. One thing I do know is the less he could do to annoy me would be appreciated.

That being said, I am not totally down on him. I think he has a very good voice and his announcements are very cordial and not completely dry like your the typical high school announcer. In that area he has improved a lot. Sometimes what speakers adopt as "style" becomes and affectation and when overdone becomes very off-putting.

Oh, the band. I heard that depressing 3rd down dirge loud and clear during the broadcast. It sounded really good.
