Tulane to Host 2022 MBB Final Four
http://tulanegreenwave.com/news/2016/11/...-four.aspx

Quote:The men's basketball committee decided to forego the traditional site selection process in choosing New Orleans, which narrowly missed being picked during the last bid cycle that concluded with Phoenix, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Indianapolis awarded the 2017 through 2021 Final Fours. The Final Four site selection process scheduled to begin next year will still take place, with the 2023, 2024 and 2025 locations expected to be announced in the summer of 2018.

"With the Final Four competing for many of the same venues that host major events such as the Super Bowl and College Football Playoff, we did not want to wait until 2018 to make the announcement for the 2022 Final Four," said Gavitt. "That, combined with the milestone anniversaries we'll celebrate at that time, made the decision to move forward with New Orleans hosting in 2022 the sensible thing to do. We look forward to another competitive bid process commencing after the 2017 Final Four when we'll determine the next three hosts."

Who invited Tulane to this conference?

Oh wait, good idea.

It'd be a better idea if Tulane actually did host the Final Four on campus or even at the Smoothie King Center. Basketball needs to come out of domes other than the occasional novelty.

Exactly. I can't wait until ECU "hosts" the tourney in Charlotte again....
Cheers!

With all due respect to coach Guy V. Lewis, may he rest in peace. He championed the concept.

Well, I've read the first 10 articles listed in Google regarding this Final Four and I haven't seen Tulane mentioned once; all articles have "New Orleans to host 2022 FF. I'm confident that's always the way it is; but if the NCAA requires a university to be "host" of the tournament and spend $ as being host, Dan Gavitt should at least mention the host university.

What are Tulane's responsibilities as host?
