I've seen this mentioned so many times that it's starting to become pathetic and I want to clear it up.

1. Every single lib here knows how the electoral college works and doesn't dispute that. So when a lib references the fact that HRC won the popular vote. That is all they are doing. I've seen so many posters try to put words in the mouth of others and it ruins the discussion of this place. If you can't have an honest discussion about it then it only proves you have no argument.

2. The term "the people's choice" always has and always will mean the option that the most people voted for. Hillary was in face the "people's choice" regardless of how small the margin.

3. I can't believe I have to explain this. Every vote is equal. So no, California being big doesn't downplay the popular vote result in any way, shape, or form. Each vote counts equally. Any vote or collection of votes is equally responsible for the end result.

I don't mind that Trump won, but the brain drain on here by the cons trying to trivialize the popular vote result is ridiculous.

What I don't understand is why people are saying this was a movement or a referendum.

Trump didn't win the popular vote and he didn't even get more votes than Romney or McCain before him.

Trump won the presidency but this was far from some sort of movement.

Just out of curiosity ---- are there any other countries out there that have anything analogous to our Electoral College?

You do realize if there was no electoral college the popular vote would be different as well right?

Trump spent all his time in the swing states, most of which he won. If there was no electoral college he would have spent time in New York, California, and Illinois, and would have likely swung some voters just like he did in Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Obviously he wasn't going to campaign in New York and California, he's never going to sway enough people to win the state. But he could've swayed some if there was no electoral college.

That is a very good point. I think everyone would agree however that if there was no electoral college, republicans likely would never win another election.

You know movements dont have to incorporate a majority of the country?

People consider BLM a movement even though it comprises of less than 1% of the population.

This movement may not have had a name or an organization, but many, many people wanted to revolt against the political elite. That is the only reason Trump won.

If people would get out of thier echo chambers, they would realize why Trump won.

Also I know multiple people from Kentucky who didn't vote because Trump was going to win the state anyway. No electoral college and who know how many more people vote one way or the other.

I found nothing verifying that on google. only thing I see is a 2 hr old article from CNN saying she will hold on to the PV.
