Dead man elected to office

Similar situation in NC. Man died while up for reelection , if he won (don't know, not my district ) his wife was going to fill his seat

Yes he did.. because his death came after the ballots were "locked in" by name, and the State supreme court said the name couldn't be replaced. (it was one of the few times where MIssouri considered allowing write-in votes).
