If you assume all of McMullin's votes went to Trump, the number of votes in Utah almost makes up Trump's deficit in the popular vote. Add in a few other states like Kentucky and Idaho and the Clinton campaign has nothing to hang their head on whatsoever.

Who cares?

If popular vote mattered, everyone would campaign non-stop in California, New York, and Illinois. Other than fundraising, no campaign cares about how many are voting there.

There are always stats and they often conflict with the scoreboard.

So Hillary led in yards gained but was out scored by Trump.

On this board in particular how can this bother anyone?

I scared a butterfly in 1978 and its wings disturbed the atmosphere and the cascading effects over time altered a meaningless non-determinative election statistic in 2016. Sorry about that.

What's funny is Trump hates the electoral vote. He wants to change it. People are protesting him because he won by the very thing he wants to change. I wish people would read instead of listening to late night tv shows or getting news from some whack job on YouTube

Trump's claim on the McMullin-vote is not nearly as strong as Clinton's claim on the Stein-vote.
And Stein got a lot more votes than McMullin.

We don't know who won the popular vote because there ISN'T a popular vote. If there had been, you would have voted differently... as would perhaps millions of others... and almost assuredly more than the margin in the 'electoral' vote (not the EC, but the EV)

There is no such thing as a popular vote.
