eCK: C'mon, BB, you are better than that! The Public Ivy image came out of the book written by Moll in 1985 in which Miami was included as public Ivy (with 7-8 other institutions like U of Texas, U Of North Carolina, William and Mary, U of Michigan, etc.). It was certainly not "made up" by Miami people. Sure, Miami "ran with it".....wouldn't OU if you had been given positive PR like that. And Miami's undergraduate reputuation is stellar and tops in the MAC (with Buffalo).

Geez, Miami people are so touchy! lol

Who me? Overly sensitive? Well, maybe just a tad but the "Public Ivy designation" for Miami (undergrad only) was bestoyed on my alma mater by others and if the "shoe fits, wear it".

CMU's Bowl Eligible.

And Miami should win out.

So we SHOULD have 6, IMO. Obviously 5 in the least.

No, he's correct. The stat in question is bowl eligibility. Toledo won 7 games that year but didn't go to a bowl.

That should make it easier to play 'let's make a deal' with our secondary bowl partners.

Page 8 of the EMU game notes for tonight's game has the info.

Need to check San Diego (Poinsettia), a back up bowl.

and maybe (???) Quick Lane in Detroit (EMU fans would love that game).

And so it is complete; the only Michigan FBS school that won't be bowling is the team that made the CFP last year.

2016 has been a strange, strange year...

The CLE Cavs come back from 3 - 1 deficit to beat a team which set a record for regular season wins.

The Cubs win the World Series after 108 years in the 10th inning of game #7.

A politician who has never held elective office, defeats 16 primary foes and later wins the presidency (but loses the popular vote by now 1M votes*). Male and female genitals become topics in political discussion and debates.

EMU which has not been bowl eligible since 1987 (not 1995**) goes from one win to wrapping up bowl game eligibility on election night while MSU plays like EMU used to play...

* Second time since 2000 this has happened, but it never happened in the 20th century.

** In 1995 EMU had 6 wins but two were vs. FCS teams so we were not bowl eligible. And there were certainly no need to take teams without at least 5 FBS wins to fill slots.

Otherwise, an absolutely boring year in politics and sports... 03-lmfao 03-lmfao03-lmfao

In 1995 EMU was bowl eligible with a 6-5 record. In 2011 EMU was 6-6 with 2 wins against FCS and not bowl eligible.

Yep. Brain fart on my part.

Although it is kind of an asterisk. Weren't many bowl back then. Believe the MAC only had one: Las Vegas Bowl.
