Ahh ... I see your strategy here. Kill the protesting soul in them, early on. That will help to quiet them up, and avoid future protests led by the young.
The problem is that there is a time and place for everything. If these kids were protesting a war or against an injustice that can be corrected in the near term then that's one thing. However, this protest is against an election that was carried out in accord with the constitution. The former may have merit. The latter is being stupid. There is no strategy here. It's a temper tantrum.

So your concern here is the media, not the students?
The country is hopeless divided. Let's just get the damn split over with.
The country isn't that divided. Are there disagreements, yes. But the country is not coming apart at seams. The urban/rural divide is actually more acute than any racial or gender animosity.

They should concentrate on New Zealand. Far easier immigration process during my research last night.
Canada has made it very hard for anyone to immigrate unless they have a unique "skill" or they have family in the country.
New Zealand? Canada? How white.
Why not Mexico, you racists?
Because I don't speak spanish very well, and would probably struggle trying to learn fast enough. That and the Mexican economy isn't exactly sound currently.
Could you apply those two qualifiers to the black community (ebonics and economy) as reasons not to "immigrate" to their neighborhood and not be called a racist?

So you want to escape a white, Anglo Saxon country by only looking to move to another white, Angle Saxon country?
No... I'm looking for a place that has a more moderate and better run political system. Australia and New Zealand fit that the closest.
And please...America is not a white Anglo-Saxon country. It is a melting pot of different cultures from all over the world, a nation of immigrants.

Suspend every student that participated.
There has to be consequences to these actions.
You want to suspend someone for exercising their free speech rights? Good luck with that.
You can say what you want, but that doesn't mean that you are immune to punishment if it goes against the school's rules.
If there is precedent for punishing students that skip class, then these students are susceptible to that punishment
But that goes down to a school's handbook, and again since this was clearly led by staff members, you would be punishing students for listening to their teachers. High Schools have had issues with walk outs before that aren't teacher led, and even then it's been really hard to punish students because of free speech rights. Even with enough constitutional protections to allow schools to discipline students, it's hard to enforce unless they are clearly violating a rule.
And they are not going to punish staff because Teachers Unions make disciplining teachers darn near impossible.
Besides, this is Berkley we're talking about, the principal and superintendent probably participated as well.
