EMU Bowl Eligible!
Congrats to the Eagles and their fans who have endured so much ugliness on boards like this. I still remember the Hurons beating San Jose State in the California Bowl when I was a young'un. I'll tell you something else: Winning will bring the crowds out.

Congrats Hurons, it's been a long time coming. Hope a Quick Lane Bowl team doesn't fill it's slot so you can play in your backyard instead of Boise or something.

You'd think, but...
*points to NIU's attendance*

Hoping indeed ACC can't fill all.
It appears that they will send one team, Clemson, to the CFP.
They have a lot of bowl obligations. Will check.

RE: EMU Bowl Eligible!
@EmooSteve:
There's very likely going to be a shortage of Fully Bowl Eligible teams (thread in the base of this site breaks it down). Army @ 6-6 with 2 D1AA teams will likely get in due to it.
Plus, good chance there'll only be 5, possibly even 4 MAC teams bowl eligible (Miami has to win 2 winnable games, but also they're hot right now). There's a possible chance 6, pretty much Max (CMU; beating either EMU or Ohio, but CMU's COLD right now).
But again, EMU's going either way. EMU would need REAL BAD LUCK not to make it. I'd bet $100 they do in a heartbeat -- no lie.

Agree.
I think where things get 'messy' is that EMU fans would like to go to the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit.
BUT, for that to happen, presumably the ACC unable to fill that bowl bid AND MAC has more qualified teams than contracted bowls so we'd have a team for it (Quick Lane Bowl).
Plus I have WMU going to the access bowl so the MAC has another slot to fill.
I'd be happy with the Miami Beach bowl game...
BTW, per EMU here are the primary MAC bowls:
"Where could we go?
The Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, Miami Beach Bowl, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Popeyes Bahamas Bowl and Dollar General Bowl are all spots for bowl eligible Mid-American Conference teams. "
So unless we have more than 5 bowl eligible teams we could not fill other bowls...

RE: EMU Bowl Eligible!
Yeah, count the Detroit Pizza Bowling Bowl out.
- WMU
- Toledo
- Ohio
- EMU
- Miami: 65% chance
- CMU: 40% chance
We could have 6 teams. Doubt it, though.
Now, EMU could throw the game with CMU to further chances for the Detroit Bowl, though, making CMU bowl-eligible. :) But that'd only be worth considering once it's pretty much solidified that Miami's going to go.
But if WMU wins out & Wyoming doesn't drop 2 to allow Boise into the mix -- then we'd need 7 MAC teams for EMU to have a shot at the Detroit Bowl (which won't happen).
I think they're going to send EMU to the Potato Bowl (the least liked bowl). Although if Wyoming is set to play in that, they won't (no rematches).

RE: EMU Bowl Eligible!
Folks here, and on the EMU board, seem to have this distain for the Boise bowl for obvious reasons (e.g., distance, weather, etc.).
Truth be told, unless something absolutely weird happens EMU won't be in Detroit for the Quick Lane Bowl.
So, if 1K EMU fans want to travel to AL, FL, etc. but only 500 to Boise, does it really matter? The other 99% will be watching on television and the Boise bowl will be better than the others.
Whomever goes to Boise will get a top notch (TOUGH!!) match up.
So if the purpose of a bowl game is to play a good team with good name recognition, etc. Boise is where to go.

To the 500, yeah. It sucks in weather out there. You usually play a good MW team, but it's a sucky location nobody likes going to.

I went to Boise a couple years ago for our bowl - beautiful area and great city in my brief time there. The pouring rain that left me frigid and soaked was not so great, though.
