College Football Week 11
WMU fell behind 14-0 before thousands (2,000)at Kent.

WMU now up 30-21 with 8 to go.

It is Maction.

The only upset tonight maybe Trump over Crooked Hillary.

It would seem a lot tougher task to motivate a good team (WMU) to beat Kent State in a sparse crowd so I give them credit for at least taking care of business.
Alternately, you couldn't have had a better atmosphere than the Houston game here: a full stadium that was as deafening as I can ever remember; a top ten opponent and a chance to avenge a tough conference loss the prior year before a large national TV audience. It was the beginning of the UC second half meltdowns that have plagued this team that turned a winnable game into a blowout. Coaching matters and UC can (and will) do so much better after 2016 with a new regime.

Very weird situation setting up. Ohio State will be number 2 in rankings yet doesn't control it's own destiny in the B1G

So, if MI wins out they go to the CCG, if PSU wins out and osu wins out, then PSU goes to the CCG, if PSU loses once, and osu wins out, they go to CCG?

Ton of ranked teams dropped to unranked teams this week. How anyone can accurately rate a top 25 is mindboggling...

Doesn't Navy deserve to jump back into the rankings? After having as many as three teams ranked last season the AAC could use the love.

If I were sitting at #2 in the rankings at the end of the regular season, I don't think I'd really want to play in the CCG.

The problem is the rule states that conference champions need to get preference over non conference champions unless there's a clear difference. If Penn State wins the big 10 they'll go over Ohio State. The question becomes would they take OSU over other conference champions. If Clemson and Washington are 12-1 I'd bet no

Are there any real hard and fast rules when it comes to a closed door committee which is accountable to no one?

To answer your question, basically NO. Conference champion is a stated factor, but I don't know where the other poster came up with the language about them getting "preference over non conference champions unless there's a clear difference".

Quote:Q: What criteria does the selection committee use to rank the teams?
A: The committee selects the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head competition, comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory) and other relevant factors that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

Selection committee members have flexibility to examine whatever data they believe is relevant to inform their decisions.
They also review a significant amount of game video. Among the many factors the committee members consider are strength of schedule, head-to-head results, comparison of results against common opponents and conference championships won. The playoff group has retained SportSource Analytics to provide the data platform for the committee’s use. This platform allows the committee members to compare and contrast teams on every level possible. Each member evaluates the data at hand, and then the individuals will vote to produce a group decision.
