Nov. 8, 2016

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati Athletics Ticket Office announced Tuesday that ticket sales for the 2016-17 men’s basketball season have surpassed a 10-year high as the season opener against Brown nears on Friday, Nov. 11.

With season ticket sales exceeding 2015-16 figures by nearly 10 percent and mini plan sales eclipsing last year’s sales by 20 percent, the ticket office also has announced there will be no public single-game ticket sales for the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. The only way fans can receive tickets to the Xavier contest is to purchase season tickets or mini plans by calling 1-877-CATS-TIX or logging online at GoBearcats.com/tickets.

Good to see. I think basketball attendance nationally has been declining.

Regardless of what happens on the court, Mick is not going anywhere. Santa Ono extended his contract another two years in April putting it out to 2022. Many on this board think we can't afford to pay Tubs $1.5M buyout- how can we afford to cut both.

Mick may not be going anywhere, but if he doesn't produce this season, a fair few fans just might be.

This press release annoys me, because percentages mean little if you don't know what it's a percentage of. I have no clue anymore how many season tickets were sold last year there. Is it 2,000? 5,000?

I wonder if any of this is disinvestment from football and into basketball. I've pondered doing this myself.

I don't have exact numbers, but I heard we were on our way to 6k season tickets before tip off on Friday.

RE: Basketball Season tickets hit 10 year high
^^ I read something that indicated we had 5,200 last season-- so 6K is roughly a 20% increase as stated in the article.

Actually, the article said 10% increase for season ticket sales and 20% for miniplans. So we can know that roughly 520 more season tickets were sold and an unknown number of miniplan seats.

Like you said, 6K is probably a good base number.

So 2006 was the year after Huggins left, right? I'd want to compare against 2005 and prior years.

Basketball Season tickets hit 10 year high
The graphic they used on Twitter had them up to 5,700 from 5,200.

Over 4,000 mini plans.

I'm really looking forward to this year. It's best time to be a UC basketball fan since Mick took over.

When has any Cincinnati team (pro, college) not let you down after high expectations? 1990 Reds?

I hate 'em so I don't pay close attention but doesn't Eggsavier generally deliver on expectations? They certainly have Mick's number most years.

As a UC fan, I expect Xavier to lose every game. Therefore, they are not meeting my expectations either.
