We can't dump and run fast enough. Can't believe we are going to go 6-6 this year.

6-6 would be great for us.

It's less great when you start the year 6-2.

Too late. Just wait till your coaches blame your players for all your troubles. Then you'll be on our level of dumpster fire. I have never seen such a pathetic excuse for a coaching staff than the assortment we have on defense. And reprehensible too, for calling out players when everyone can see the massively obvious coaching failures at every position and at all stages of the game. Nix's comments are on a new level of bad in my mind.

This is the first I've heard about West getting into it with the USM fans. Can you share more? I've always heard TW had a bad temper.

He basically got into a shouting match with some fan whose commentary irked him.

His exit press conference from when T1ger H1gh fired him is a pretty good rant.

West is best remembered in Hattiesburg for his daily stop at the Texaco on 98 and old 11. Buying a 24 oz beer and leaving drinking wino style out of the paper bag.

Have gotten info from multiple sources that Nix has been let go. Also, the WR coach has been fired and the DB coach is retiring.

No word on West. That's the one that scares me the most.

You guys would be fools to do that. You would be fools if you didn't make a big push on Nick Holt as your DC right now. I don't know what your money situation is. I believe he was working for 300k here. Who knows where he ends up but he just built the defense for the last 2 conference champs. He's in his late 50s but still has plenty of fire which I like in a DC. He certainly already knows the conference. I think Sanford made a mistake not keeping him on for at least one year. It would have been one side of the ball you don't have to start from scratch on. But he brought in a DB coach from NC State as our new DC. Actually I think he was safeties coach this year and not DB. If I'm Rick Stockstill with little Stock and Richie James my first phone call for DC is Nick Holt.

I'm sure it isn't lost on you that MT doesn't make very many good decisions.

My first call would be to Nate Woody. Nix and Holt were being paid the same. We could nearly double Woody's salary and he has proven he can build a top 10 defense with not much to work with, but I suspect if he goes anywhere it may be a P5. But he's my first call.

Otherwise, I agree with you on Holt. No question he should be in the top three. I'm not sure how Holt would fit into the laid back culture of a Stockstill, Franklin led team. But that's perhaps exactly what we need - someone with some fire.

I would also include Art Kaufman in that discussion as well. He was our LB's coach at MT about 10 years ago.

Who are we trying to kid. All true MT fans know that West is getting the promotion. That's just the way we roll in the boro.

And I'm not blowing smoke. If that happens I'm done. I walk away from this cold turkey. Won't give them another dime or ounce of my time.

It would be the most mammoth slap in the face to the intelligence of the fan base.

It's what I'm expecting. Maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise. But I doubt it.

I'm not expecting it. I mean to do that might as well have kept Nix.

There is no benefit in firing Nix and just placing West there. I expect more.
