All it will take it one slip-up from Clemson or Washington (not hard to imagine), and OSU and Michigan will be poised for a 2006 all over again. The loser of "The Game" will still make the playoff if there aren't three other 1-loss or 0-loss conference champs.
If Penn State wins out, Ohio State cannot advance to the Conference Championship Game. Even if OSU beats Michigan, they and PSU will have one loss each; but PSU wins the head-to-head tie breaker. The only way OSU gets to the CCG is if they win out AND PSU drops a game to Rutgers or Michigan State.

RE: Bad news for non-Big Ten fans...
The additions of Rutgers and Maryland, along with the complete collapse of Michigan St, and the continued mediocrity of Indiana, has done exactly what was desired: provide a bunch of conference wins to the three elite CFB programs in the Big Ten (East): Michigan, Ohio St, and Penn St.
If Michigan didn't have its stupid loss to Iowa, and if Penn St didn't have that stupid loss to Pitt ... you could imagine a three way tie in the BT East with each team being 11-1. Crazy!

I don't see it happening.
OSU and Michigan still have to play one another.
