Miami is up 6 at the half vs. DIII Muskingum. Yes, you read that right D3 Muskingham.

WOW. I can see a Top D2 team or something, but no excuse for ANY D3 team not to at least be winning by double-digits after the 1st section of the 1st half (and then climbing).

Miami pulled away and won by 27. EMU playing close with Pitt. BG up early on Oakland.

Edit: just heard on the broadcast that BG suspended Ish Ali and Antwon Lillard for,a,violation of team rules.

NIU is pissing the game away against Indiana State. All they had to do was make their free throws and instead they miss 4 out of their last 5.

Edit: NIU managed to narrow by in OT.

Yes, we had the game in hand but we couldn't close out. Sad part is our big men are much better FT shooters than our guards. Maric had a big game.

At least they were able to pull it out against a solid opponent.

We also shot terribly from 3-pt land. Some things never change.

This game got my attention, to do that vs St Louis is an eye opener, maybe the Cards are for real. This conference is shaping up to be phenomenal this year.

Cards set an arena record for most 3-pointers made by a visiting opponent. Seven different players made a 3. They made 13 of 23. St. Louis never came closer than 20 points in the 2nd half.

RE: MAC Basketball Opening Weekend
EMU showed something tonight. they went blow for blow with w good pitt team who got every call every bounce and every break. it was 50 minutes down the final 3 at the buzzer that rimmed out for EMU. This was a true good loss. Gives EMU confidence yet forces them to improve. Would probably help them if a bubble team in March. Pitt needed a contested 3 point bank shot to get to OT. got a weird off the backboard bounce on a bricked baseline jumper in the 1st OT and made clutch plays in the 2nd OT to survive. Both teams played well.

BG played oakland tough. Lost 80-72 but it was a 1 possession game in the final few minutes. they were playing shorthanded and Oakland is one the best teams in the Horizon

Ball St got an impressive win. Looks like their depth is improved this year.

NIU looked pretty good, until they didn't, but got the win.

Buffalo looking legit as well with a 10 point rivalry game road win.

Overall I'd say it was a pretty good day for MAC basketball. Nobody really disappointed and even EMU performed really well in a losing effort.

On one hand, STL is really bad. I would be surprised if they win 10 games. On the other hand, Bradley was as bad last year and they lost to them so I'm happy they just took care of business.

New PG Tayler Persons is a stud and had 21.

I don't know enough about most of the opponents the rest of the MAC played. I haven't heard of most of the teams before but I take it the Indiana St and St Louis wins were the best since they were MVC and A-10 teams?

That would be a fair assumption. Indiana State was really great in the 60s-70s. They twice made it to the national championship game. That's also where Larry Legend played his college ball.
