RE: VILLANOVA GAME
And Talley has run an unusual 3-3 defense for years and it always causes some problems. You never know who is coming. Without the blitzing of one of the linebackers we should be able to contain the 3 down linemen ok. If they throw 1 or 2 of the linebackers at us in blitz packages we need to have some hot reads and throw where the blitzing linebacker is vacating.

Our runners should be able to get to the second level a little easier. It will be a good test for Kirkpatrick this week. I am anxious to see how he attacks their defense.

+1 we never did or do in any polls. Longhorn's right forget the polls, just keep winning they'll have to look at us then!

I tend to agree but let's not forget that we have had first round byes and hosted our first playoff games the past two years only to lose to underdogs Liberty and Colgate. Before that, we consistently underperformed the previous 4 years or so.

Again, I tend to agree this year, but our recent past doesn't help our case. I'm also making an assumption that the pollsters consider this in their votes, but it's more likely they throw darts at a bullseye with a blindfold on.

RE: VILLANOVA GAME
Yeah, it's a tough defense to get ready for after only one week. Talley's Defense brings all kinds of zone blitzing that can confuse protections if you haven't watched a lot of film and notice tendencies. I haven't seen Nova play this year, so I don't know if they are blitzing a lot, but the defense he runs always has that as a possibility. Talley is a good coach and good at setting teams up for failure when they play in that quiet Nova environment. 10 years ago we went in there at 8-1 thinking we would beat them, win the conference AQ, get a top 4 seed, and we lost 21-20. I know these are totally different teams, but that's the kind of game that concerns me this weekend. We wound up having to travel to Youngstown for the playoffs in 2006, and we all know how that sh!t show turned out.

I can still vividly remember being at Bdubs for this and chairs being flipped over because everyone jumped out of their chairs after that play. One of many miracle plays that season. Then we had to beat them again in Bridgeforth for the quarterfinals.

I remember being there in the pouring rain for the first half. Things didn't look good until that last play. Bosco made a great catch.

I was at the 08 game with Philly Duke and if my recollection surves me he may have stormed the field. I have never been that wet and cold and at the same time so happy in my life.

Andy Talley last home game Saturday and probably have bigger crowd than usual at our game. This game will be as big of challenge as Richmond game. We will need a great team effort and JMU crowd noise!

I have all the confidence in the world in our team and coaches. We should have no complaints with this team and staff. Go Dukes!

I know this is going to sound a little BDK, but against LU, we did not have a first round bye, that was the first round.

Against Colgate we did have a bye for the first week of the playoffs. Colgate played in the first round. After they traveled to UNH and beat the Wildcats during the first round they hit the road for their second round game against us.

This is not meant to diminish your point as it is valid.

UR loses and only drops 2 spots? I promise you we won't get that benefit of the doubt if we lost. What a joke.

I think part of it was also Nova climbing the polls and they probably felt Richmond shouldn't drop below them since they blew them out. Can't be sure but I also think Richmond is sucking some johnsons.

I don't get the low ranking on NDST though. Granted EW played them close in Fargo but they did get beat. And NDST has got one of the toughest schedules in FCS. Sam Houston's and Jax St's schedules are a joke in comparison. Playing at Sam Houston is much more winnable than NDST coming to visit.

One thing no one has really mentioned, or maybe I missed it. Nova's defense is good, but keep in mind who they've played. They have had a pretty weak CAA schedule compared to many and the toughest team they faced dominated them (UR).

Those defensive stats are a bit inflated against the little sisters of the CAA poor.

RE: VILLANOVA GAME
Another big game on the road for the Dukes. Villanova overcommits to the run so the short passing game should thrive, especially to the edges. I expect a bevy of WR screens, quick hitches, RB flares etc. If Talley decides to get out of his base defense and put another defender on the perimeter, then JMU will run wild. I think he will leave his stack defense in the box and live with JMU throwing for 300+ yards on short passes to the edge. It is there for the taking all day. Perhaps we see a return of the end around/jet sweep that went missing last week.

Villanova's offense isn't that good. Let's see if Houston can stop their run game and have Bednarcykzkjkqk make some passing mistakes.
