So, if NC State doesn't win out and doesn't make a bowl, will Les Miles get a phone call?

The Pack should have already made that call.

Jumbo, Dabbo, Petrino, Dino & Les. What a division of coaches that would be!

That would start an NC State win streak over UNC... and possibly force a division realignment if the Coastal doesn't show significant improvement vs. the Atlantic.

Atlantic Team W-L (opponents)
Boston Col 0-2 (GT, VT)
Clemson 1-0 (GT, Pitt*)
Florida St 1-1 (UNC, Miami)
Louisville 2-0 (Duke, UVa)
NC State - (Miami, UNC)
Syracuse 1-0 (VT, Pitt*)
Wake Forest 2-0 (Duke, UVa)
COMBINED: 7-3, Atlantic

1) Coastal dominated the Atlantic last year.
2) Yow is too stubborn to get rid of Doeren.
3) Even if State hired Les that guarantees nothing. People thought Richt at Miami was going to be an immediate bump. Nah. They're still an 8-4 type team.

Just switch our "rival" from Virginia to VT & I'll be happy with the divisions.

They beat Notre Dame and played Clemson and Florida State tough. He deserves a pass, IMO. NC State has only finished a season ranked twice in the last 20 years. So by and large, they are where they should be.

Beating Notre Dame is no big deal, and close losses are still losses.

Debbie Yow fired Tom O'Brien because he went 22-26 in the ACC. Doeren is 7-25. They didn't fire O'Brien and hire Doeren to remain where they have always been....they could have kept the Marine for that. They brought Doeren in to advance the program and he's not only failed to advance it he is taking it backwards.

RE: ACC Standings
Doeren is also a victim of timing. He was hired in Dec 2012. The ACC that year was really on Clemson and FSU. Everybody else was crap. So if Yow was banking on that then she made a huge mistake. Fast forward 4 years, Clemson is much better. Louisville replaced Maryland and they're much better. FSU, while not as dominant as they were a couple of years ago is still a formidable foe. Wake has improved. VT, Miami, and UVA went out and got new coaches. The killer for Doeren/Yow is what's happening in Chapel Hill. UNC won the Coastal last year, made it to the top 10 of the rankings, and seem poised to win 10 or 11 games again this year.

No, not really. NC State hasn't typically been the worst team in the Atlantic Division, and at this point they are only 1/2 game ahead of BC in the loss column for that ranking with BC holding the tiebreaker.

And you don't fire coaches and pay buyouts to maintain the status quo. Unless you are as big of an idiot as Debbie Yow has proven to be at both Maryland and NC State. Fire a coach who lost 26 conference games in six years only to replace him with a coach who will likely tie, if not surpass that loss total in just four.

I would be totally shocked if Jimbo heads to LSU. I would say that is a lateral move at the very least. He already plays in one, if not the best, division in college football. FSU can compete in recruiting with plenty of the other top programs. No reason for him to go to LSU to be second banana behind Bama. Saban isn't leaving. Why not bang it out against Clemson and U of L?

Being the resident LSU/FSU fan here...I'll say...

LSU- I like Coach O. So what if they lost to Alabama...Give Coach O a shot and see what happens. Get him a good QB coach...he fits. Why bother trying to start over at this point?

FSU- blugh, if Jimbo leaves, so what?? FSU is high-profile enough to get a good coach. Get the Colorado coach! I'm starting to think Jimbo is a little overrated. FSU's defense has been weaker lately than usual...definitely NOT the Mickey Andrews of old. THIS FSU team should have been competing for a National Title

Wake has taken advantage of a extremely favorable schedule this year. Whether they will be able to repeat this year's win total next year is questionable.
