RE: Brent Stockstill's Condition
Broken collar bone in two places. Severity of it required surgery which he had yesterday. Haven't heard officially but presumably there was damage to the ligaments as well.
Tried to go back in the game but doctors wouldn't let him.

UTSA will be tough, no doubt. But we weren't given much of a chance @ Marshall or @ USM. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And we definitely play UP on the road. Would be nice to get our first FBS home win this weekend................and a second one the weekend after.

Yep done for the year maybe back for the bowl game but that is not a guarantee. Our back up seems pretty good, and hopefully he got the jitters out in the last game. With a week of practice, I think he'll be OK.

Yea, I thought he was pretty good. Hard to ask a freshmen to come in cold and play lights out when the team is down. MTSU should be fine.

RE: Brent Stockstill's Condition
I was sitting there watchin' as he hit the ground. With the UTSA defensive lineman drilling our boy into the ground; I turned to my wife and said "Oh @#$%! Stockstill is really hurt!" We really stunk as a team Saturday; But in the 50+ years I've been watching these guys Li'l Stock is the best QB we have ever had. Better than Kelly Holcomb, Wes Counts, Dwight Dasher, Jonathon Quinn, any of them.
Brent just needs to heal up and come back in 2017 with a vengeance! By the way, can we now fire some defensive coaches???!!!!!!!!

Coach Stock just said he will be out for a long time after the game. Just based on the way he talked it sounded like done for the season.
For those of you not aware Brent was injured in the first quarter today.
Will keep you posted. 6-6 here we come.
I will be having a good thought for him...

RE: Brent Stockstill's Condition
dnj article, excerpts:
Quote:...Brent Stockstill has always been that way and made a name for himself at Siegel for his toughness.
After guiding Siegel to a 13-0 record in his first year as starter, Stockstill suffered a torn ACL.
“He told me that he’d be ready for the game against Maryville that next Friday,” Siegel head coach Grant Wyant said back in November 2015. “On Sunday, he showed up on crutches, and I’m thinking he’s done.”
Brent Stockstill came in at 5 a.m. to rehab his knee and continued to work his way back the entire week.
“He said he could take drops on Wednesday,” Wyant said. “I remember a practice that week our wide-receivers coach couldn’t keep his eyes off Brent. He was in awe.”
By Thursday, Brent Stockstill said he was ready to give it a go on essentially one leg.
The Stars lost to the Rebels in arguably one of the most memorable games in Rutherford County history. Stockstill completed 23-of-35 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns.
“Nobody complains about an injury today at Siegel because of Brent,” Wyant said....
Quote:... instead of sulking and just giving up, Stockstill showed the same toughness that made him a legend in Rutherford County in high school.
"He finished the drive and came to the sideline, and they did the touch test and knew it was broken," head coach Rick Stockstill said on Monday. "They took him in to get X-rays, and that showed it was broken in two places.
"He asked the doctors, ‘Can I go back and play?’ They said, ‘No, it could kill you. The bones could puncture something.’ He asked, ‘Has anybody ever played with it?’ They said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘Well, can I be the first?"
That is vintage Brent Stockstill.....

RE: Brent Stockstill's Condition
Coach said that after the doctor said Brent was done because of 2 breaks in his collarbone, Brent asked him if anyone has ever played with that injury. The Doc said no because if the bones got loose, they could kill you by penetrating the heart. Brent asked the doc if he could be the first player to try. Both the Doc and his parents talked him out of it.
That's toughness. Now he gets to be a coach, his second passion. i think he'll help Urzua a lot.

Admire his dedication but there is a fine line between competitiveness and stupidity. Glad he wasn't able to cross it and put his life in danger. Now, he can focus on learning as a "coach" and healing.

I like that last line and that should be a big help for the RS Freshman. I guarantee lil Stock will see things on the sideline and be able to pass it onto him between series. Hate it for him. I said so when it happened. Middle's offense is LOADED with weapons and they all weren't little Stock. If Urzua doesn't turn it over often I see no reason Middle can't still put up some big offensive numbers. Whether that defense can keep the other team putting up big offensive numbers is the question of how ya'll do the rest of the year. Good luck.

I'm really sorry to see this kid's season end. No doubt, Brent Stockstill is quite a player. He's good for MTSU and CUSA. Best of luck to him. Here's to hoping he has a very successful re-hab, and healthy return next year.
