AD Moccia is respecting the desires of other schools who would prefer waiting in some cases for the announcements to be made so that their fans can hear about the games in their normal releases.
Moccia indicates focus has been on home and home games with G5 schools unlike 2013 which had 4 P5 games.

I guess going back in time is they only way to build a schedule?
I don't buy the delay because the other schools don't want it released yet.

That's a great get! The fact that Wyoming is coming to you in 2018 and you don't have to return the game until 2024? That's awesome!
Cheers!

I just read that this is a "0 week game"---that's huge. Maybe espn picks it up?
Cheers!

The annoying thing? That was our home game. We lost it because of course Wyoming isn't coming to play FCS Idaho in Moscow. Happy it worked out for NMSU but dammit.

Is it too late to try to reverse the decision of dropping down from FBS? You guys have 1 more year in the Sun Belt, you are 8-4, you are going to a bowl game and you have a good coach. Momentum? I'm sure you'll have a big crowd for the Potato Bowl against a good regional opponent in Colorado St right?
Cheers!

It's not too late logistically (although it's getting more difficult all the time) but our president is so dug in on this and we have so little leverage to use against him that unless he leaves or it turns out his evil twin has had the real Chuck Staben tied up in the basement for the past year and he finally frees himself I think we're screwed.

Well, if it wasn't for the week 0 exemption, this would not have happened. Well, only 9 more games left to schedule. Thing is NMSU might not have a football team for the 2024 game.

They must be pretty confident of their future scheduling Wyoming so far out.

Well, it could be a FCS team by then.

Could be, but not likely. It seems like there is support for staying FBS, as indicated by the regents. Most of them understand the impact on other areas and the advantages those bring.

I'll be interested in seeing the remainder of the schedule for 2018 and beyond.

They have at least 4 on tap for 2018 with Minn, Wyo, UNM and UTEP even if the last one isn't listed on the schedule I'm sure it will be. 2 home and 2 away and add a likely fcs and they are on their way to building a schedule.

Looking at FB Schedules site, there are about three dozen FBS schools that still have one or more openings for 2018. I'm sure many of those are filled but not announced, but there are openings out there. Plus there is always the reshuffling that is done in order to make something happen.
