We've looked like garbage but I wouldn't put too much into it. Evans out requires big minutes for Jenifer who can only play one position. That takes the ball out of Troy's hands and he's just not as good a SG as he is at PG.

I was worried about the inside game - maybe with good reason.

I hate to say it but UC could lose this one.

UC still looks like they have no idea of what to do against a zone defense.

No inside game at all is very worrisome to me and we are being outrebounded by nine with 3 to go.

UC is getting out-rebounded by this team.

It's awfully quiet there.

Was this supposed to be the year Mick was going to open up the offense and make us up tempo? Or was that next year again?

RE: Bellarmine Exhibition 7:00
I just watched the last 5 minutes. Not impressed. I think we will be lucky to get in the NIT the way we played tonight. Getting out rebouned by a smaller team is far from ideal. Also, half of the team looked like they were having no idea on what they needed to do when playing defense on the court. I thought a Cronin coached team on the defensive front was better than this.

Not worried in the least. Saw some good things with Moore, Scott, Jennifer, and Cumberland. Mick will get on them about defense and rebounding. Evans will make a big difference when he gets back. Exhibition games are good for the newcomers to see how they react, and to mix and match rotations. Bellarmine is a good team, number 1 in preseason D2? That means they are better than the bottom half of the American.

Zack Taylor and Mick Cronin have something in common. Neither knows anything about exciting offenses.

I agree. Hope Bohn has started his search for a new head coach!

I'm sure someone will demand to know whether Bohn already has a list of candidates at this upcoming town hall.

Please... Someone demand that Bohn address this poor exhibition performance. Can he please define what is acceptable for basketball exhibition games? Victory by only 10 points? Is this what we've become?

RE: Bellarmine Exhibition 7:00
While I think a lot of people expected a lesser performance with our situation at the wing(Evans out, Cumberland and Johnson behind him), some of us had higher hopes for the Kyle Washington and the expectation that Caupain and Clark would be pretty dominant. This isn't the tier of talent they'll be taking on night in and night out come time to play Rhode Island, possibly Duke, Iowa State, Butler, Xavier, UConn etc.

It's disappointing, not going to overreact but some venting is to be expected.

I don't expect us to be any improved on offense this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if we actually take a step back in defense. Not because of one exhibition game (with an injured starter and experimental lineups), but because I believe that Mick has already shown us his ceiling. We reached it about 5 years ago. I hope I'm wrong.

For the record, I was furious when we not only took Mick back after flirting with UNLV, but actually gave him an extension following a disappointing year.

Coaching is a nomadic line of work to begin with, but I agree, he needs to capture a little glory this season. Looked like he might be on the way to doing that before last season, when we played Kentucky tough before bowing out. Even though injuries had a lot to do with last year's disappointing season, perception is important and we need to win a lot this season and especially a couple in March.
