The SBC asked Chattanooga if they want to join, but they turned the offer down. They should have taken the offer the way they are playing Bama right now.

Not a wise idea to move up, UTC did the right thing. Unless in C-USA or higher (FTR, the SBC is better on the field of play), you have exactly the same status you would in FCS and don't even have a national title to compete for, instead just playing in some minor bowl game. SBC and Southern is roughly equal in Olympics, so the move better be worth it.

That's a special category of Schadenfreude when ND loses a 7th game.

Chattanooga's problem is that the market is divided between Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia - those three schools get coverage, then Chattanooga. The Mocs will basically always be #4 in the market unless if they join the SEC.
With regards to the Sun Belt, they'll need one of Texas-Arlington or Little Rock to upgrade to FBS, with the other school leaving the conference. Even then I would expect a last push for another western school like Missouri State, Wichita State, or even New Mexico State; I could also see the door being re-opened for a football-only membership if there is insufficient political will to run off UTA or Little Rock.

Don't think the Mocs have enough students (12,700) or endowment ($112 mill) to go FBS. They need a sugar daddy. ETSU might be a school that has FBS ambitions now after misteps by its previous President, but App St would be against them.

WVU needs to be on here for getting spanked 41-7 in a game that could have gotten them into the playoff conversation.

Yep. That's because they are going to win the national championship NEXT year.

Don't look now, but WVU narrows it to 41-28 in the 4th...

This will be another season with some 5-7 bowl teams. N.D. isn't out until SC beats them.

I'm not gonna start yet another new thread for this but check out John F. Kennedy at the 1963 Orange Bowl:
Are you kidding me? I have certain things I would say that I won't because they'd come off as insensitive.

RE: This Week In Schadenfreude 2016 -- Week 12
For Schadenfreude this week, you can't beat the way Florida topped LSU. Earlier in the week, LSU running back Derrius Guice had mocked Florida, saying "they can't run (from us) no more", alluding to LSU claims that UF had tried to use the hurricane last month to avoid playing them.
Florida got revenge twice yesterday, first stripping Guice of the ball at their own 3 yard line, which stopped LSU from taking an insurmountable 14-3 lead, and then on the last play of the game, when they stuffed him just short of the goal line as time ran out to preserve a 16-10 win.
Words like that almost always come back to bite whoever said them, and this was exhibit A.
Moral: Talk trash after you win the game, not before it.
