Penn State wins out and wins the B1G.
Somebody wins the Big 12.
Ohio State wins out but doesn't play for the B1G title.
Washington upset in PAC title game. Or they win PAC title game.
Clemson wins out.
Alabama wins out except loses SEC title game to Florida.
Florida wins out.

Playoffs:

#1 Ohio State vs #4 Florida (SEC champ)
#2 Clemson (ACC champ) vs #3 Alabama

Yes?

The playoffs may have two B1G teams but it surely won't have two SEC teams.

Not sure how that would happen if my scenario unfolds?

Yes?

If a majority of P5 champs were left out--that might be an event that spurs support for the systemic change needed to get to the 8 team playoff that I believe is optimum.

A 4 team playoff makes things competitive and keeps a lid on how many schools are in the national championship conversation to 6 or 8 at most.

It does give some space for an alternative conversation. This week its Florida if they can win out through the SEC championship game at 2 losses. Another one people are talking about is Oklahoma whether they could be worthy.

At the G5 level what you are seeing is more competition within those conferences. Houston is probably the best G5 team but couldn't make it out of its AAC division undefeated. Every division winner is in play and if you've recently won a division title you're a threat to win a conference championship and make a NY6 game.

The unbeaten G5 most of the public would believe should get a NY6 bowl but beyond that its open season on who is deserving.
