RE: Bowl Projections
Also, I'm beginning to see a scenario where VT plays WVU in the Russell Athletic Bowl. That would be cool.

Other interesting possibilities:
Pitt vs. Maryland in the Pinstripe.
Ga Tech vs. Navy in the Military.

Miami could face Florida in some bowl, tbd.

Navy is contractually obligated to the armed forces bowl in Texas vs. the big 12 unless they make the access bowl as the AAC champion.

GT will have to go 2-1 in the last 3 games.. ( I would love to beat UVA and UGA) But if we go 6-6 we will be lucky to go to the Indy Bowl as we will most likely head to motown and the newly named little Ceaser bowl,,,"quick lane bowl"

The post apocalyptic wasteland of Detroit could be oddly fitting for PJ.

Best thing about GT in the Quick Lane Bowl would be seeing how many rushing yards the Jackets could hang on a 6-6 Big Ten team.

To rush the ball you must first not turn it over and second block somebody.

RE: Bowl Projections
It's time to update this since Duke is now a legitimate contender for a bowl bid. Duke is 4-6 and would need to win one of its two remaining games at Pitt and Miami to qualify for a bowl trip. Your response to that last sentence is probably "You can't go to a bowl game unless you win at least six games." Wrong. NCAA rules say that if there aren't enough six win teams for all the bowl games that a five win team can go but that five win teams must be selected for bowl games in the order of their Academic Progress Rate (APR). It seems like every year that at least one five win team goes to a bowl game under this provision. Who do you think is going to beat Duke on APR? It'll probably be a lousy bowl game like the one in Detroit if it happens but even a lousy bowl game lets you practice longer and helps recruiting.

Very true... But first Duke must win another game.

RE: Bowl Projections
I agree Hall that Duke is probably better than a 50/50 shot for a bowl at 5-7, unlike the rest of the usual glut of 5-7 teams.

Getting win #5 won't be easy with ending @Pitt & @ Miami. However, I felt Duke was much more dangerous than their 0-5 record showed even before the UNC upset.
