FAU @ Rice
I know all have their calendars marked for the Battle of the Owls in Houston - which 1-7 team will come away victorious?!?! Rice is currently favored by 4 points which basically means it's a push. The bigger story is whether both coaches will be employed at their respective institutions at the end of the season. Rice fans want Bailiff gone six weeks (or even a year) ago, but appears as if our AD will wait until after the last game to make a move - which puts many in the Rice camp on pins and needles, as our university administration is notorious for being content with having low expectations for the football team. Interested to get FAU fans' take on Partridge - seem like he has to be a goner this year, with only two season left on his contract.

Hey, I know! We could trade coaches. That way both schools can cater to their fans' desire for change while still maintaining their low expectations and suckerage. Everybody wins! Cha-ching!

Even better, have the teams switch head coaches either for the entire game or at the half.

The Owls vs Owls game is on espn3 so I can watch to judge if UTEP has a chance against either one.

I believe UTEP is the only conference school that has to face Owls back to back and also the only team to face raptors 3 weeks in a row to end the season.

On a related note, how confident do you all feel about getting to six wins? Just remember, David Bailiff was under fire in 2012 (a la Kugler this year), but won five of our last six games to get bowl eligible and probably save his job. So, if you aren't a Kugler fan, be careful what you wish for!

Not really confident at all. UTEP could easily lose the last 3 vs FAU, Rice (both on the road) and at home vs UNT. Despite the records I really don't see much difference in strength between those 3 opponents and UTSA, FIU, ODU.

I do like Kugler in some ways. He has turned the team's APR around in a very positive way. His teams show signs of competing and then falls apart so he may have to go. Might be one of those people that is a good position coach but no more.

For the most part I agree, UTEP should beat both the owls though

Most FAU fans want him gone, but neither the AD nor the school-affiliated sources even suggest that his seat is warm. This is evidence of the school not wanting to spend money on a real coach. Let's be honest here. We had Schnellenberger who started our program. After his retirement we hired Pellini, who was an assistant coach (at Nebraska), followed by HIS assistant, Wright, and then by an O-line coach (from Wisconsin), partridge.

We never really hired a true head coach. We get what we pay for.

RE: FAU @ Rice
Second Quarter with about 10 minutes to go. FAU 14 - Rice 7. I think about 30 minutes until the inevitable FAU collapse.

RE: FAU @ Rice
FAU misses a FG. Greg Joseph is no longer perfect (7/8 FG, 13/13 PAT). FAU still up 14-7 but inevitability is approaching.

RE: FAU @ Rice
Second half about to begin. The Owls are leading... ok, that's a joke.

FAU leads Rice 21-14, despite Joseph now having missed 2 FGs (38 and 52). Given that the collapse is coming, those two missed FGs will haunt us.

FAU takes a 98-yard drive into the end-zone. FAU 28, Rice 14.

Joseph's season: 7/9 FG, 15/15 PAT

FAU with an 84-yard passing TD. FAU 35, Rice 17. Collapse is still possible.

Charlotte didn't play them back to back, but we do also have Temple on the schedule the last two years. We will have played owls 6 of our first 22 FBS seasons.

Pick up Kennesaw State as your FCS game?
