How about a bowl game in Fargo Dome? 04-bow

We see some P5 schools get bowl bids for cities that belong to G5 scores.
Las Vegas=UNLV
San Diego=San Diego State
Albuquerque=New Mexico
El Paso=UTEP
Birmingham=UAB
San Antonio=UTSA
Orlando=UCF
Tampa=USF
Memphis=Memphis
Santa Clara=Santa Clara former Big West football school.
Houston=Houston

SMU, North Texas, Hawaii (P5 players play in the all-star game), and several others. P5 conferences have had a chance to grab G5 schools that have more access to bowl sites than they have now.

Doesn't look like UT will accept a bowl bid:

multiple #Bowls officials told me they have it on good authority that #Longhorns will not accept a bid, even if things break their way sat.

so if this is accurate:
New Mexico St @ 5-6 South Alabama
5-6 La Lafayette @ La Monroe

list:
989 Army 6-5 2 fcs
984 North Texas 5-7
971 Mississippi State 5-7
970 Northern Illinois 5-7
967 Louisiana-Monroe 4-7

Key game: South Alabama vs New Mexico St
if USA wins- they are 76.
Army, North Texas, and Miss St are in.
IF ULL beats ULM, they are in. Northern Illinois would be out. IF ULM beats ULL, Northern Illinois would be in.

if USA loses, Army, North Texas, Miss St, and Northern Illinois would be in.
ULL vs ULM would be for spot 80. either ULL normally, or ULM as the next APR school

Just plain stupid of Texas, if true.

How are you not going to take the extra 15 practices for Herman and his staff to start installing their systems with the players???

Serious question. Did Texas also fire all of Strong's assistant coaches? I do know they were all under contract at least until the end of next season, and most of them have their own buyout clauses. If they are still collecting paychecks, I would imagine they would count against the allowable number of coaches.

I do know that Herman has already hired four Houston coaches, who will now leave the Cougars stranded for their bowl game. If they haven't signed contracts with Texas would they be allowed to coach in a Texas bowl game?

If basically any practice time was going to be spent changing offensive and defensive systems, Texas would pretty much be saying they are tanking in the bowl, and only playing in it for the money and the ability to start spring practice early. That might be technically permitted, but it's sure a bad look for the UT president who wasn't happy about firing Strong to begin with. If they are going to tank, they should just go ahead and do it against TCU and make all this moot.

Where would West Texas A&M be now if they have not downgraded?

Where would Eastern Kentucky, James Madison, Lamar, Northern Iowa or the MVFC be at if the plans went through that wanted to move up?

James Madison 10-1
North Dakota State 10-1
Youngstown State 9-3
South Dakota State 8-3
Jacksonville State 10-1
Sam Houston State 11-0
McNeese State 6-5
Chattanooga 10-1

We could see those teams in a bowl game this year instead of the 5-7 teams. SBC should have grabbed Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State right from the start. Jacksonville State is FBS ready right now.

1. Most of these programs realize that moving up makes zero sense financially.
2. How big was that pond you jumped over to assume that these schools would have winning records in FBS?

North Dakota State could win if they are either in the MAC or MWC. They would be the next Boise State.
Jacksonville State might be able to win the SBC outright this year if they are there.
Eastern Washington is much better team than San Diego State, and could fit in on MWC west.
Sam Houston State might be able to compete in C-USA west right now.
James Madison could have a winning record if they were in C-USA east or MAC east.
Chattanooga may have a winning record in SBC.
South Dakota State took TCU into the 4th Q scoring a lot of points to almost pulled off an upset win.

"Eastern Washington is a much better team than San Diego St"--I love that quote DavidSt.
Cheers!

The SEC could have had 13 teams at 6-6 or better had the results of the Egg Bowl been reversed, and had Missouri scored 10 more points - a field goal against Georgia (lost 28-27) and another touchdown against Middle Tennessee (lost 51-45).
