...we've noticed for years that Mullens never slides to his right or left out of the pocket when he gets pressure...he always move's in one direction...Backwards...how is it possible monken, his high school coach and now this staff have not taught him to move his ass laterally like every other QB in the world/planet to get outside the pocket and increase his vision downfield??

It's just a bad habit. He's not very athletic and he knows it. Some guys naturally have a feel for it and some don't. I'm sure they've tried to fix it. But he's terrible throwing on the move anyway. He just doesn't look to escape. He just tries to retreat and buy himself an extra second or two.

we always new he was not a scramble style QB...

brady and manning do a pretty good job being that way...

however, mullens isn't of that caliber....never has been....

and losing his key recievers, coach, and thumb doesn't make it any easier either....

he's questioning himself in the pocket....reminds of Kelly's sr yr....

I was responding to your OP target feller......like eagle9 mentioned, he's not the best at throwing when moving laterally

e.g. the pass to Ito in the 3rd around the 12 was a late read....he was isolated on their LB and should've thrown it immediately.....instead he waited for Ito to come free behing the spy....was a helluva pass/incompletion in that instance, but could've been intercepted...that guy missed it by a fraction

....some just don't feel the pressure to make a step or two laterally when they're still trying to figure out where the open guys are located...our OL isn't THAT good where you have 5 options and can find #4 read....that's where film study becomes critical....

what he needs to do when he misses his 1/2 reads is step up or take off depending if they blitz or not...

side to side ain't his game...nor is it for pocket passing by design....EVERY pocket passer gets his arse handed to him in today's speed game....that's why making quick reads and audibles are important....

you don't have to be jesse owens to do that....nor Austin Davis.....capiche?
