If that loss makes it possible for Western to make the access bowl game it was huge for WMU and the MAC.

Very good point.

Cotton Bowl means the rest of the conference can afford steak and lobster rather than burgers and fries.

We should continue eating burger and fries.

Correct. Fan turnout was pathetic, and none of our staff or players showed up ready to play.

Need to stay hungry.

For those not following WMU's quest for an access bowl bid:

We believe that the MAC, after giving WMU their payout, would receive SAY 6M bucks. Could be more but use that as a guess for the purposes of discussion.

That means the MAC would have 6M to put into their bowl game fund of receipts and distributions.

The hope is that each MAC school could get say 500K of that 6M assuming the other bowls 'pay for each self.'

What would 500K mean to EMU? Say at an average of $15 / ticket, that would be say 33K tickets or the equivalence of 16K additional fully paid tickets for NIU and CMU. Given the reduced seating capacity of Rynearson, it would be like two sellouts.

Thanks Steve, you got the context of my comment, WMU if they make it to a big bowl means the entire conference wins. My comment wasn't about our team specifically although I agree with Eagle Tough and Masttg's observations. Frankly the Quick Change bowl is the only bowl I could see EMU making money-if we go.

RE: EMU's victory over Wyoming just got a whole lot more meaningful
For those not into the access bowl system, "We are all WMU fans" not only of the PRIDE of having a MAC team play a HUGE bowl game but that the proceeds to each school would be great.

For those unaware of budget numbers, 500K dollars would be more than home gate receipts for FB, MBB, WBB, volleyball, etc.

500K is 'rounding error' to most Big Ten schools. To us, its a gift from heaven.

It looks real nice that we beat Wyoming, but I don't think it will matter much if we get six or more wins. Other things will matter more, especially what others schools qualify.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miami wins out.
