Doug Smock: Current Herd no match for 2007 Marshall team

Additionally:
American Sports Network is the latest offender, not sending a crew to the Marshall-ODU game. Instead, ASN “called” the game from a studio in Missouri

Our fanbase is kind of a joke, who leaves when we are getting sweet revenge like this??

A bunch of fairweather fans that's who, weak sauce.

What kind of a fan goes to a game and posts on a messageboard the entire game?

Wasn't at the game, thanks for caring though sweetie.

You're welcome peaches. Was beginning to question if you were one of the fair weather fans that you speak of, turns out you are!

I read the article. One of the annou8ncers was shilling for the company saying how the broadcast still felt live. Maybe to him, but not for me. It's always obvious when they broadcast from a studio. The background sound and ambiance is different and the lack of noise coming from thru the announcers mirophone makes it obvious. Personally I do not like it. Very sterile feel and very unexciting.

Maybe they'll keep it up and drive some viewers to the games.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Say what you will about cusa.tv ....but at least the announcers are in the same time zone as the game. Not the first time ASN has done this. The UTEP game the announcers were in Indiana or something. I know they're trying to save money, but it's bush league.

ASN is a Bush League organization if there ever was one.

Agreed. Even though I went to the game, I still DVR'd this game. The announcers did seem to love ODU, but it was obvious they weren't there. One play stood out to me where Washington tried to throw a deep ball to Pascal, but the cameras were kind of lost on the play. Announcers were in complete silence because they had no idea what happened.

I also find it humorous that I have to DVR a San Fran Bay area sports channel when I live less than 100 miles from Norfolk.

FWIW I watched the recording of the game after I got home and had no idea the announcers weren't there until someone posted it here. And the game was on local TV on WTVZ. It's a shame it wasn't carried on any stations outside of HR.

Baldinger tries to yell out every comment to make it sound as if he's yelling over a crowd. That ASN production needs refinement for sure. Video screens split, satellite signal failures, camera getting faked out multiple times and replays starting after teams are lining up for the next play from scrimmage. Unreal.

I may be in the minority but it's more validation that I should be happy we have Ted Alexander IMO.

Yeah, Baldinger is doing a poor man's imitation of John Madden. Could have been worse, I am still getting over the UTEP production.

If he didn't have a brother who works in broadcasting I would agree. But he sounds like a worse version of his brother, which makes sense since he's on ASN and not the NFL Network.

It's really just to highlight great catches, but emphasizes high pointing the ball when the db is right there. I got a chuckle that it was against Moss' old college team.
