If anything it is an advantage for the visiting team

RE: Question re: tiebreaker for hosting
I don't really care if Tech moves the game...if you win out you earned the right to host. And if it was Okayed before the season then that changes everything. Really nothing anyone can complain about.

Honestly even if it wasn't talked about (Tech really not planning or thinking they would win and host) you still have to do things that helps a conference member out. Especially if it cost them money. I assume to push the contract back there would be a cost (dollars). I know I put it in every contract when I was in construction (it was small time) I schedule months in advance.

So even then as a conference you do what's best

In this case (if Western wins the east) I say screw Tech...move it to Western. J/K

moving a game is a decision that should not be made at this time. Still months before that should happen because it's very possible this could get completed in that time frame.

The most important game anyone in this conference will play this year and every year after unless they get that huge payday bowl...

is the conference championship game

By Tech scheduling work at the end of their home season they are saying they value their OOC games more than a conference championship game

Here's the thing, in the described scenario you're possibly moving two home games next year to Shreveport, including Tech's biggest OOC home game in close to a decade. Not to mention, I expect some sort of TV coverage for that Miss State home game, that game needs to be in Ruston, showing off the renovations.

Not to mention the whole idea of putting the construction crew themselves on hold as to whether or not they start in the second week of November or the first week of December.

Imagine Western was in the same position, Houchens was set to go under rennovations in mid November to be ready for a home game next year against South Carolina in week 2 after hosting Murray State in week 1.

You could host the CCG in Nashville at Nissan stadium, knowing you'll have Houchens ready to show off rennovations hosting a beatable SEC team, or host the CCG at home and risk having to play back-to-back weeks in Nashville to open the year next year, including missing out on hosting South Carolina on your own campus.

Well I say no matter who wins the west or east, Tech should host the championship game against the eastern team it feels is most deserving. I'm thinking FAU or Marshall.

RE: Question re: tiebreaker for hosting
Look I don't even know why I'm arguing this for...

If Tech wins out they deserve to host...where ever that might be. At least in my opinion.

But sometimes I do that...choose the other side to argue. Even if I agree with somehing

Ok I got it figured out. La tech will host but the game will be played at either wku or mtsu! La tech can still be home team and just rent out the stadium.

If they're playing Middle, they aren't hosting anyhow...

In all likelihood the USM/Tech game will be to decide if it's Western @ Tech in Shreveport or USM @ Western.

If Western unexpectedly falters and we win out, we would be hosting regardless of who wins the west.

RE: Question re: tiebreaker for hosting
Let me just say this, and I think most USM fans (and many CUSA fans may agree):

If Southern Miss has a chance to WRAP UP the west at HOME on Senior Day...last conf. game of the year...potentially last chance in their lifetime for the seniors to play at the ROCK...a chance to win the west for the 2nd year in a row...a chance to go WIN the conference...we will not lose that game. Period. End of discussion. Throw out the stats, throw out who's record is what, we will not lose. Nick Mullens and our senior leadership simply will not allow that to happen. Bank on it.

Shot called.

If USM and La Tech both win out leading up to their season ending tilt on 11/25, Louisiana Tech has zero chance of winning.

See, I thought that last year... We can play well to finish off the year, right? Its Senior Day, they'll do well, right? Its the exact same scenario. And... we turned the ball over 7 times.

10-1 in conference games in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Not that it's intimidating or anything, we just don't lose at home much.

I like the confidence. I expect a tough game. Protecting the football will be key.

So long as we win out, that would be the case.. We hold the tiebreaker with La Tech outright and I don't see a path for 9-3 USM to be ranked ahead of 10-2 MT.

The only scenarios in which the CCG is in Hattiesburg would require both MT and WKU to drop a game.

The fix is in. USM can sellout hosting the championship game. WKU drew how many last year?

I've always wondered which stadium called 'the Rock' (USM or APPState) was named that first. Why didn't that school trademark the name?
