The biggest season turnaround in recent memory.
Well guys, I have to say win or lose tonight I'm proud of my Trojans! This has been a crazy season so far. Two months ago we were ranked #20 beginning to finally shake off what the sanctions did to our great program. Despite depth issues we had a lot veteran talent.

Game #1 against Alabama we have the worst loss I have ever personally witnessed as a USC fan. And it was the offense that was supposed to be our biggest strength that was the problem. Game #2 it looks like things turned around blowing out a bad Utah State team but even in a 45 point win the offense still looked bad. Game #3 was another embarrassing loss to Stanford.

At 1-2 with three of the best teams on our schedule up next things were looking pretty bad for us. A gauntlet of two top 25 teams and Arizona State who is playing good ball. That's when Sam Darnold a Freshman was given the starting position.

Against a very good Utah team we lead most of the game and for the first time all year looked good in the passing game. And unfortunately lost but for the first time all year the offense really looked alive. Then against Arizona State we demolished them, beat a top 25 Colorado team, and demolished Arizona. Tonight we have a chance to improve to 5-3 on the season. And we would be favored to win every game on our schedule except Washington.

9-4 would be a great way to finish this season considering we were 1-3 at one point. 10-3 would be even better but that may be a little too optimistic. Regardless, I'm excited to see how we do against Cal tonight! This game will be the major turning point in how this seasons goes IMO.

I would like to throw App State in this conversation.

In AppSt's first year of FBS (still a transition year) they started 1-5 and lost to FCS Liberty at home. Sucked. Then the team did a 180* and sucker punched Troy in the dick and won the next 6 to finish the year 7-5. Since then App has only lost one Sunbelt game.

Troy 3-9
Georgia St 1-11
La-Monroe 4-8
Ark St 7-6
Louisiana 9-4
Idaho 1-10

so 2 wins over teams with a pulse.

USC has in their turnaround already beat
Arizona St 5-4
Colorado 6-2
Arizona 2-6
California 4-4

so already 1 bowl team, and 2 others that will do so likely. So no. Plus if things went right, USC could wind up winning the conference.

You get points for the phrase "sucker punched Troy in the dick"

Biggest for Clemson would have to be 2003. Sitting at 5-4 coming off a 28 point loss to Wake Forest that wasn't as close as the score would indicate Clemson beats #3 FSU giving Tommy Bowden his first win against his dad and probably staving off a coaching change that offseason.

They then finish the regular season by beating Duke by 33 and South Carolina by 46 before beating #6 Tennessee in the Peach Bowl to finish 9-4.

Miami went from 1-11 in 2009 to 10-4 with a MAC title and Godaddy Bowl win in 2010, first team ever to go from double-digit losses to wins between seasons. We might be in the process of a huge turnaround this season, we started 0-6 after some close losses and a wave of injuries to our young offense, but we've won three in a row (first three-game winning streak since 2010) and our remaining schedule isn't impossible to run the table on now that we're getting healthier.

SC needs some help to win the South. Good turn around for SC, behind the freshman. Ball security is an issue, He also will have to deal with toughest road test of his carer

Hawaii - 1998 they went 0-12 to 9-4 and bowl win in 1999 under June Jones
South Carolina - Lou Holtz inherits Brad Scott's awful 1998 1-10 Gamecocks team, goes 0-11 and then rips off back to back bowl wins in 2000 and 2001 going 8-4 and 9-3 respectively.

Last year San Diego State started 1-3, with a home loss to South Alabama sandwiched between road losses to middle-of-the-road Cal and Penn State squads. The only win was over the local FCS school (USD)

SDSU then went 9-0, going undefeated in MWC play and crushing Cincinnati 42-7 in the bowl game. Only 1 of those games was even within two touchdowns.
