Yes, the NCAA makes a sudden rule change allowing FCS programs to become bowl eligible.

Zero chance. Still 100% in the FCS. Besides, they don't have a single FBS team on their schedule.

RE: Coastal Carolina Bowling?
Once upon a time Marshall moved up from IAA and kicked MAC butt, and the MAC got all butthurt and needed a scapegoat so they helped create the IAA to IA transition rules because it's not faaaaaaaaaaaaair for teams to bring all their FCS players into the FBS and be bowl-eligible right away.

Now you must win 6 games and there must not be enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all of the slots.

RE: Coastal Carolina Bowling?
Can't you only count 1 or 2 FCS games for being bowl eligible?
That would give us only 1 or 2 wins in the eyes of a selection committee.

Only one and you cant play that same FCS team consecutively. There is also no committee it is just NCAA rules. You can ask for a waiver from a rule but it is not going to be given.

Yeah that would be silly. CCU football is still 100% FCS this year.

Then you will not be eligible next year either...No playoffs this year no bowl next.

I was scared when I first saw the title of this thread that a Coastal fan started it. So glad that wasn't true.

Actually this part of the rule has changed

If CCU wins enough FBS games and not enough teams are bowl eligible then we would go bowling next year(2017)

For instance last year when some 5-7 teams went to bowls next year if we have the wins we would go ahead of them

Since we have a ranked bowling team I thought it was about a Coastal "bowling team".

But it was about nothing instead.

When did it change, because it certainly wasn't the case for Ga Southern two years ago?

RE: Coastal Carolina Bowling?
With all of the new bowls it is getting harder to get enough bowl eligible teams

Magnified this past year when I think 3 teams with losing records played in bowls

This rule has not changed. This has been the case for some time regarding FBS transitional teams. The problem for Georgia Southern in 2014 (and App State, as we had 7 wins as well) is that there were enough bowl eligible teams at 6-6 or better. Now that there are more bowls (80 teams go bowling vs. 76 in 2014), this is a much higher possibility for a 6-6 or better Coastal in 2017 than it was for GS/App in 2014. We are at a projected 77 bowl eligible teams this year, for example. As of right now, 5-7 teams will be bowling again, but next year, it would go to a 6-6 or better Coastal first.
