Canoes Reek of Genocide,Theft and White Privilege, Says Canadian Professor

Quote:Forget Halloween costumes and yoga, there’s a new symbol of cultural appropriation—the canoe.

According to Misao Dean, Professor of English at the University of Victoria, the canoe can be a symbol of colonialism, imperialism and genocide due to history. She also accused the canoers of cultural appropriation because they are primarily white men and have a privileged place in society.

What? A canoe is a small watercraft folks use to paddle around on their choice of waterway..........no more. It is astounding the lengths some idiots will go to attach "meanings" to things. How does this lady live daily life with so much oppression and triggering????

Rath - I'm with you..........we can bring tacos for lunch on our canoe trip.

The canoe is a symbol of colionalism against the First Peoples?

Did she not realize that Native Americans where travelling via canoe long before white people got here?

You couldn’t reach her with logic about First Nation use of canoes because she’s not reacting with logic, she’s reacting with emotion.

(And will probably get a nice promotion out of it.)
