RE: Ball State Week
This game shouldn't be close, this team has lost to all of the 3 MAC teams we have beaten.

Although no MAC team should never be taken lightly, this is a game we can use to get up big early and ride backups in the 2nd half. Actually the next 3 games should be like this, give all of our starters some rest and time to heal before the big finale against Toledo where the MAC west title and right to Detroit will be on the line.

This season kind of reminds of the hockey season in 2010, Blashills first year, where we finally beat Ferris to get over the hump and get to Detroit, just hope it doesn't take double OT to get there LOL

RE: Ball State Week
Quote:"The best medicine for me that night was having the opportunity to watch Ohio State and Penn state, knowing that we're in a similar situation. " he said. "We've got Western Michigan coming in here, they're gonna be favored, but it's an opportunity for us to have one of those moments.

We are everyone's "Ohio State" this season and will get all their best shots. Certainly can't overlook anyone.

That said, it'd take a huge uncharacteristic clunker of a performance to lose any of our next three games. Ball State could throw us a couple curve balls, but KSU and Buffalo will probably be over by halftime.

Our backups are going to get plenty of playing time these next three games. Ball State is awful. The question is, how soon before the backups come onto the field? Riley has thrown more INT than he has TD's... terrible.

No, they will be on the sidelines cheering on their teammates and family. Here at WMU we take the season one game at a time.

So far this year, backups have not been getting a lot of playing time. I think the most they played was at CMU, which was an early blowout. Even then, if I recall correctly, starters remained in until well into the 4th quarter. Point being that the staff seems slow to pull the starters.

If the backups get in.... i want to see a backup QB throw a DAMN PASS! I want to see who we have back there who can actually RUN the offense.... not just hand off or tuck and run.

I think we'll see starters in longer than we'd prefer. To move up the polls and have a shot at the Cotton Bowl, we have to blow out the next three teams. There's a lot of money on the line.

Granted, we still need Boise to lose to have a shot.

RE: Ball State Week
Probably a good thing our game has its own little slot on Tuesday this week, from a local perspective. The UM-MSU game will gobble up all in-state attention Saturday.

But for those ranking-watching, we'll have to ready ourselves for a potential 1-2 place drop in Sunday's polls. Unless a lot of the teams around us lose. Feels like Bye weekends have rarely been kind to ranked teams, especially G5s.

RE: Ball State Week
Going on the road is always tougher than playing at home.

Looks like weather in Muncie won't be an issue, though.

Apparently we are pretty healthy for this time of year.

I have confidence staff will have team ready to play well, as they have so far all year.

None of the polls matter after 7pm on Tuesday. The official rankings start there.

And our score will be on the ticker during the whole show. We better open a can.

I believe the show will be over by the time the game starts.

Still, we need massive style points the next 2 weeks.

RE: Ball State Week
Let's just keep winning. One of the worst things we can do is get the players worrying about winning by enough points. Just win each week. Personally, I don't think these games will be that easy. Upsets happen every week. Let's not be one of those.
