If Charlotte had held on to lead against FIU, I would of given us a shot at bowl but I just don't see us winning 3 out of 4. We probably beat Rice and have 30-40% against UTSA.

NT brought 38,000 of those 38,300. UNLV did not travel at all. If we had a B10 opponent they would have brought at least some fans and the name would have drawn out even more NT alumni.

The vast majority of those Tech/Ill fans were local Tech graduates. According to their alumni association more tech graduates live in the DFW region than anywhere else.

Still I think if NT wants to play in the HoD they need to win the conference because the other likely candidates would want that slot also.

So Tech's 5,000 alumni in DFW almost outdrew UNT 300,000?

"5,000 Tech alumni in the Dallas-Fort Worth area"

There are probably 5000 members of the TTAA in Dallas. Not 5000 alumni. TT itself says:

http://today.ttu.edu/posts/2015/01/dalla...e-programs
Quote:Dallas/Fort Worth is home to more than 35,000 Texas Tech alumni, so officials anticipate the additional degrees will be popular.

And, yes a higher % of TT's alumni are engaged in athletic events after they graduate than NT alumni. Probably holds true vs LaTech and most other G5 programs.

Attendence for our win was significantly higher than any other current CUSA team has been able to draw.

Doesn't work like that, whoever wins CUSA will first choice then the divisional winner second choice.

NT only had 38,330 in 2013. Tech vs Illinois had 31,297 and the economic impact of traveling fans far outweighs that difference in ticket sales.

I don't think that's correct that the division winner gets second choice. My understanding is that the champ is the only one who is supposed to get their choice. After that the conference works with the bowls and schools. It usually seems to go regional when possible.

You are correct Saint Greg. Just so happen that the last 3 west division champs have went to the HOD bowl. Edit Wrong - UNT was second to Rice in 2013

Will the HOD possible choose a third place west team for few thousand more local fans? I don't think so considering the Dallas Sports Commission is involved.

It probably doesn't matter when it comes to HOD because the champ will likely go there. But if an eastern team won the championship and preferred to go to Florida, I would hope we'd put our best foot forward against a P5 in Dallas. If the game were early on the 26th I could understand going with the closest team because I don't think many people will spend Christmas night in Dallas hotels. This year it's on the 27th. Fans from any western school should be able to make it.

They have UTEP playing Akron in the Indy Bowl. That would probably be the lowest attended Indy Bowl ever.

Those predictions are pretty much worthless but if they were right about the Indy Bowl and UTEP was there at 5-7 due to APR and the opponent was Akron I would predict a crowd of less than 500 and that would include the bands. Horrible matchup far from each campus.

Shreveport is our largest alumni base. Dallas is probably second though.
