RE: Sounds Like Some Interesting Developments Coming
The AAC doesn't "need" Boise. It would be nice, but networks would have to make it worth it and I don't think they will. Forget all the bad blood about them joining then bailing if ESPN or whoever would pay us 10-12 million a year if we added them then sure it would happen tomorrow and both sides would be thrilled. No network has ever shown the willingness though to make it worth it financially to have a full coast to coast "best of the rest" league. Now of course there was no stability at the time all this talk was going on so maybe now that the networks know there's not gonna be any moves for a while this will be a time you could do something like that, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Idaho is a long way from the rest of the conference.

If anything they have proven that the big 12 was right that our teams would have watered down the big 12. We have literally destroyed our own leverage.

An alternative explanation is that our conference is much better across the board. Navy is GOOD. Temple... is GOOD.

We had this debate in the old big east. A conference with 2 horses watches them romp, gets them ranked and gets a lot of attention. A conference with multiple great teams beats up on itself (parity), and does not get the ratings/attention.

Exactly parity is a terrible thing for this conference. The only P5 conference that can say parity and get away with it is the sec. As far as everyone else is concerned parity in a G5 no teams were that good and the conference is so watered down that no one could separate themselves. We are probably about to get screwed.

Parity kills in college football when you can't afford to lose even once, unlike the NFL.

I hope Boise gets knocked off by Wyoming on Saturday. Tired of them riding their cake schedule to glory whenever one of our teams slips up.

According to Massey, Boise St has played a tougher OOC schedule than any AAC or MWC except Hawaii.

You do realize over the last decade Boise has beat more ranked teams than any G5 and has the best winning percentage against the P5 schools?

You're wasting your time throwing facts out there with this group....

Smart for ESPN and AAC to begin talks now. ESPN to loose content in the near future. AAC is a valuable growing property ESPN happens to own at a bargain and under contract. ESPN would be smart to renegotiate instead of playing hardball and allowing to go to market.

Also by talking early AAC can listen to their partner on possible moves they could make to get to the revenue number we'd like to get. So it's good we could put a strategy together. I believe we should stair step up to a $8MM to $10MM annual property for it's members once all is said and done.

Facts? Did Boise play two Top 5 schools, like Louisville and OU? What metric says Boise's OOC was toughest?

I doubt any interesting developments come soon. Any remake of TV deal likely will only bump us enough to say we are king of G5. I don't see any adds coming nor should we. We have a good mix of schools right now.

That's what Aresco said yesterday on tv at the Tulsa- Memphis game. I think at this time he is looking to see if ESPN is willing to open up and extend deal for some extra cash. I'm going to say like 5 million per team from 2018-2025 or so

You have to wonder if ESPN wants to pay more than the Big East gets for the American. 5 mill would be about right (its actually worth more if the BE is worth 4 mill). I think that is the market rate and ESPN would prefer not to lose the property to FS1...if Aresco is good he could just extend it 10 years and try and build in an option to expand west to 16 at some point in the future (like the Big 12 clause that ESPN just bought out). This would give ESPN leverage over both the MWC and BYU. Fox needs east coast property, not west.
