Thursday Night the MAC loses
7:00pm VT at Pitt (ESPN)
7:30pm App State at GoSo (ESPNU)
10:30pm Cal at USC (ESPN)

7:00 Ohio at Toledo (CBSSN)
7:30 Akron at UB (ESPN3)

If ESPN MACtion was a thing, why is ACCtion and PACtion also thing? Move our game to Saturday. A thursday night game when Toledo has the 4th best game and is not on ESPN2 or ESPN is stupid. There will be 90k viewers for our game and about 15k for Akron.

Hell, I would watch GoSo and App over our games (should be a great game). Attendance would be 5k better for OU on a Saturday (Have not hosted the bobcats since 2009???). I usually don't ***** about MACtion but leave us the slots!!!

That doesn't even count Thursday night NFL football. I agree if the games aren't going to be on a legitimate cable station, what's the purpose of scheduling them?

Even though it is an annual thing, Tuesday night MACtion starts soon but on Nov 8 it goes up against the presidential election.

I guess a lot of EMU fans will have their eyes on both the game and election.

RE: Thursday Night the MAC loses
MACtion doesn't technically start until November. The only reason these teams are playing Thursday night is to line up MACtion the following week.

BG, NIU, WMU, BSU all have the week off before playing next Tuesday. Toledo and Akron play the following Wednesday; Ohio and Buffalo the following Thursday. Midweek MACtion messes up more than just the week of games.

RE: Thursday Night the MAC loses
a refresher of how this works-

the MAC agreed to X number of weeknight games with ESPN. ESPN then secured a side deal with other networks like CBSSN to sell off overflow. CBSSN then tries to get the most attractive option it can get from ESPN. ESPN throws them a bone and gives them the better of the 3 G5 match ups to show its being a good biz partner. There's no conspiracy and its nothing personal, its just business.

We agreed to this in exchange for $10M this year. CUSA refused it and will recieve $2.8M.

Buffalo hosted Miami in 2008 on the night of the presidential election. It was one of the coolest games I have ever attended

Blue vs Red. Toledo played Ball State in 2012 ranked and fell to the red... Obama still won though.

Those of us disgusted with media coverage of issues in our country think MACtion is fabulous counter programming

I'm not entirely sure if ESPN threw CBSSN a bone. They already have the premier CFB game at that time slot in VA Tech - Pitt and I'd venture to guess App State has a much larger following than either Toledo or OU.

I don't see this week of games being a make it or break it week in the MAC receiving their $10 million per year as ESPN probably is making peanuts on licensing that game to CBSSN. I do however see, as a previous poster mentioned, how it set up Akron vs. Toledo game on ESPN2 for next Wednesday. Neither team would have been able to play this Saturday then turn around and play again Wednesday.

I win! I get to watch the Rockets play OU on CBSSN instead of the horrible ESPN3 stream that I endured for CMU@UT.

OU@UT is a 7:30 pm game according to the UT Rocket website.

Looking at the box score it was 58 degrees at game time.. I remember it being a really nice day out for the beginning of November.

RE: Thursday Night the MAC loses
That's too bad Toledo/Ohio has to compete with games on ESPN, ESPNU, and Thursday Night NFL football. CBSSN is much better than ESPN3 as it's an actual cable channel, but I'd rather be on the ESPN network for a weeknight game.
