UConn tried to fab a rivalry with UCF by creating a trophy and calling the game the "Civil Conflict". Yesterday after the win UCF said no thanks and left the trophy on the field. Thought it was pretty funny.

Wouldn't Temple make so much more sense for them anyway?

UCF has USF.

Well we had or have the BLACK AND BLUE bowl with USM and The Bones Trophy with UAB. But, we don't play either team anymore. The last time we played both of them was 2012 and we won those games. So, I guess those trophies will be ours for a while. Maybe that's the way to do it. Create a trophy for a rivalry, win the last game you play with them, don't play them anymore and keep the trophy.

It is NOT a conflict trophy. It is a UConn Trophy made just for one game. You do not put your name on top and beat UCF on a trophy which was designed to go to the winner.

This is what a rivalry trophy looks like.

I didn't realize the Black and Blue Bowl had a trophy.

Regardless, nothing filled me with more relief than for Memphis to beat Birmingham in 2012 during our final Conference USA season. If they had kept that damned trophy I would have been pissed.

Here is the BLACK AND BLUE TROPHY. Not as nice as the BONES trophy.

That is a pretty smart idea to put etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. at the bottom of the plaque so you don't have to send it to the trophy shop to engrave the year and name of the winner each time.

That trophy hasn't rotated since before Memphis was even a DI program, let alone Arkansas State, IIRC.

So two sided trophy and when you win you just turn it around to show your school and display it that way.

Someone one find that paint bucket it belongs in our trophy case.

DAMN we used to kidnapped each others players. Then paint the others campus. Hold on a minute, there should still be a Tiger painted somewhere on ASU campus since we won the last game.

I never understood the Battle of the Bones thing with UAB. I'm a lifelong Tiger fan and don't recall ever feeling like there was a rivalry between us and UAB.

The Battle of the Bones was almost as contrived as the dumb rivalry that UConn tried to conjure.

Yea we needed to win a few games for it to be a rivalry.

Lots of ties between the two schools. 78/22, BBQ, Bartow, Conference schools. They beat us several years in a row when they should not have been on the field with us.

I never understood the BBQ aspect of it either. The BBQ meccas of the world are Memphis, Kansas City, the Carolinas, and Texas. I've never heard anybody talk about Birmingham or even Alabama BBQ. There may be a few good BBQ joints in Alabama/Birmingham but they are not famous for their regional style like Memphis is for dry ribs, the Carolinas for vinegar based sauce, KC for sweet sauce, Texas for beef, etc..... I know they have their white sauce but its not notorious on the same level as the others.

Alabama is kinda like Georgia or any other southern state for that matter, they probably have a lot of good bbq places but they are not famous for their bbq.

Alabama's BBQ is known for their white sauce.

It's pathetic.

I had thought about walking on at MSU back in the late 60's but I attend my first MSU/SMU game and realized I was not physically cut out for this type of game. I wish we played them every year cause they were great physical football games
